A/N

Welp. It was not my intention to post after nearly 3 months for crying out loud. My fault for starting too many WIPS and wasting time online at the sub of a certain show that has season 2 coming out in two weeks.

I also struggled with this chapter (which you can tell) started then quitting then started again etc. Also, have not felt like writing, been busy with and failing with getting a job. And there is the fact that I suffer from a condition called 'lazywriteritis' and the fact that we are possibly heading towards WW3 has also affected my mood. Hope you like this extra long chapter though. I was going to have them have a nice evening together but ultimately decided I wanted them to argue again.

SEE YOU AT THE NEXT ONE WHENEVER THAT MAY BE.

She pulled back from Alec suddenly, just as he was planning to pull her onto him, and it left him puzzled. Especially when she sat down with her back to him and then stood up to turn to him. He looked at her and she looked vulnerable and had a questioning look in her eyes.

"What?" he asked her.

"Ella?" he said as he also got up, walked around the bed and toward her.

"What is it?" he wanted to know, now becoming a little unconcerned because she still didn't say anything and just stood there.

"Did I startle you?," he began because that was all he could think about. I hope that wasn't the case. Alec realized he hadn't given her any warning before he started kissing her. It was not very thoughtful of him, but he had acted on impulse.

She shook her head, however. He headed towards her lake with a non-understanding look on his face and stood still in front of her.

"Then what, Ella? What's bothering you?"

"Julia told me you threatened a lawsuit... so you could dissolve the match"

So that was it. He had hoped somewhere that she had forgotten this little piece of information, but she had not.

He sighed; remaining silent for he answered.

"Julia spoke the truth," he said succinctly.

"Why didn't you take it to court?" Ella asked with hurt in her expression and he felt awful guilty for hurting because it was kind of a hurtful thing to do, he realised that now but that was then. Things were not the same now.

"The main reason back then was that it was of little use. He had consulted his office and investigated the legal possibilities, but that had been after the big fight with Ella, when she had moved out. From his employer, there was a firm letter sent with a threat or two, but soon they had received a sarcastic one back, clearly stating a few things. First, it said that they were legally within their rights on all fronts. Also, it said that "they could try, but it would really be a wasted effort" and the word "really" was printed in bold.

"There wasn't much point in going through with it as the Ministry acts according to the laws that be," he replied succinctly. She only nodded, but it was a defeated nod.

"I see", she said. Two words. Nothing more but he could tell she wasn't happy about anything he had told her.

"If you.. have any more questions I would be happy to answer them " he suggested; even though that might not have been a smart idea because now he might have to admit or explain things he didn't necessarily want to explain. She looked at him intently, took a short breath, and then spoke hesitantly, her voice breaking.

"I just don't understand why you act the way you do." He frowned at this statement, not really understanding what this statement entailed.

"Like how?" he asked in a curious fashion.
