"What's your real name?" James asked, taking his eyes off the road for a second to glance at her."Like my full name or...?"
"No like your birth name. You've been called by three different names tonight so I'm just curious" Celia nodded, understanding.
"Well my birth name is Celia but i much prefer to be called Lia or Lee." James was confused to why she would disregard such a beautiful name.
"Why? I like Celia. Beautiful name for a beautiful girl" she tried to ignore the last part of his statement but couldn't help the blush rise onto her face.
James must have noticed because a smirk began to creep on his.
"My mom did too. She said i was a gift from god, therefore she called me Celia." He hummed, satisfied with her answer.
"Heavenly." He spoke softly, almost a whisper.
"Hmm?" She asked, unsure of what he meant.
"Heavenly. Its the meaning of your name in Latin. I think maybe that's why its so beautiful. Though it also means 'blind one' I'm sure. Also fitting."
Celia scoffed unsure of whether he was complimenting her or not. "And why would that be fitting?" She asked awaiting a response.
"Because your so stupidly blind towards how gorgeous you are. All night you sat uncomfortably fidgeting with your dress and covered yourself with your arms. It was painful to watch. And yet although you can't see it, you caught the attention of every man in that room when you walked in."
Celia sat in silence for a while. She had never been so flattered by a guy before. "That's surely not true. Even if they were looking in my direction they were probably staring at Natasha."
James chuckled and shook his head. "What's so funny?" She asked cluelessly.
"I should know Celia, i was one of them. You look amazing so take a compliment." He spoke with slight sarcasm.
"Thank you" she smiled at him, taking in all his features. "Your so very welcome, angel"
After a while of silence, Celia gained the confidence to speak up. "So what do you do if you don't mind me asking?"
James glanced at her before waiting a moment to speak. He opened his mouth before closing it again before coming to a decision. "I own a chain of clubs and restaurants."
There. Wasn't a complete lie and didn't give away the truth. He was sure he hadn't given himself away and he was right. Celia didn't show the tiniest bit of skepticism.
"Oh okay interesting. Is it like a family business or?" He smiled at her genuine interest. "Someone's curious. No, i worked my way up myself. You?"
Now it was his turn to ask the questions. "I guess you could say I'm a designer. I tend to design house or floor plans but I occasionally become an artist and sell paintings. I actually made the plan for Steve's house."
He liked how passionately she spoke of her work. James loved a girl who knew what she wanted.
"I think he mentioned it to me before. Said you wouldn't take the money he offered you for the plan or the paintings either." Celia shook her head
"why would i? He was a friend in need and i helped him. I don't need money to feel good about helping out a friend."
"No but you deserve to be spoilt." She attempted to hide her smile and looked at him.
"And you think that because?" He was tired of her always second guessing herself.
"I don't think it, i know it. And if you let me I'll show you." She couldn't believe her ears. Why would a man like him want to see a girl like her?
"Let you show me? What does that mean James?" "It means let me take you out sometime. Just us. Dinner or lunch, i don't mind as long as I spend it with you."
"Why so eager to spend time with me?" She questioned, not used to the affection.
"Why do you find it so hard to believe that i want to see you again?" She nodded her head "touché" James took the last right before pulling into a parking space.
"We're here." He quickly hopped out the car and jogged over to Celia's side, opening the door for her. "Do you need some help walking?" He asked, grabbing her hand as she stepped out the car.
"I think I've got it" she spoke before mentally cursing herself as she began to limp.
"Wait, I'll carry you in. You don't wanna make it worse." She stopped and slowly pivoted on her non-injured foot. "Are you sure? You've already done enough for me tonight" he walked over to her and swept her legs from underneath her.
"I got you" she squealed and wrapped her hands around his neck instinctively.
He only placed her down once when she had to check herself in and then picked her back up to seat them in the waiting area.
They had been waiting for an hour now and Celia had almost fallen asleep three times. James woke her every time and told her not to sleep incase she had hit her head in the way down from the stool.
She complained every time but there was no getting past James. He threatened to throw a cup of water in her face if she fell asleep so she attempted to keep her eyes open.
Finally, her name was called and she hobbled over to the room, convincing James she could do it although they both knew she couldn't. As they both sat down the nurse began to ask some questions.
"So could you or boyfriend tell me how you fell on the foot?" The blonde woman asked as she bandaged up the girls hand.
"Oh boyfriend? No- we- we're not-"
"no i was quite occupied in that moment in time." James interrupted sarcastically, finding it funny as Celia stumbled on her words.
"Me neither i was too focused on my hand to even notice my ankle until i started walking." The woman took of her gloves and threw them in the bin.
"No worries. I believe you have a fractured ankle so I'm going to put your foot in a cast and give you some crutches if that's okay?" The girl face palmed and leant back in the bed, wanting to cry.
"No problem. Thanks doctor." James spoke for her as the blonde left. "What's the matter doll?" He asked scooting his chair closer to the bed.
"How the hell am i going to afford the bill for that? The hand and then the foot and the crutches, its all just so much money and-"
"don't stress it Celia. I'll pay for it all."
"Are you crazy? That's so much money! How am i even gonna pay you back James?" He smiled, an idea creeping up in him.
"How about you pay me back by accompanying me to dinner on Friday?" She finally took her hand if her face and looked at him.
"Am i paying?" She asked "definitely not. I wanna take you somewhere special." She huffed feeling worse about herself
"that makes it even worse James. Plus i am not leaving my house with a big white boot on my leg!" He laughed at her clearly getting frustrated.
"Then I'll come to your house and cook for you, deal?" "And if i say no?" She asked squinting her eyes "then I'll come anyways."
