How To Stop Time

"Make good use of the time you are given," they say.
We all get the same 24 hours in a day.
"Work hard and you will succeed!"
What happens to those where time makes us bleed?

When you're clutching straws for a second to spare
We cast time to the wind, without any care.
A dandelion clock says 'tick tock tick tock',
In the sound of time passing, you could hear a pin drop.

Few of us have a chance to experience death
But once I was close to taking that final breath.
Every minute was a lifetime and every lifetime like a second.
In that moment time was fleeting as a feather.

When the screams pound my head like a drum before war,
Every shift of the clock is a merciless taunt.
I wish for time to run away free,
Instead it holds still, suffocating me

It's a paradoxical saying 'to exist out of time',
Yet it's the only way to describe an experience such as mine.
For any like me, where time makes us pay,
Do you also just wish for the end of the day?

When you wish for it all to last for longer,
For me each second is one i must conquer.
So can you see why i never get anything done?
You picture your future. For me i see none.

Now make no mistake, this is no cry for help,
Just the only way I could let these words leave my mouth.
