The palace^

Our Luggage is in a truck and me, mom, and Alaric are in a long, black Limousine. I look out a tinted window. People on the street are staring at the expensive car. Alaric is sitting next to me and my mom across from us.

Alaric pretends to yuan and puts his arm over me while doing so. I shift my gaze to meet his eyes. "Real smooth," I joke. He Smirks and looks away.

The car is either new, or they have some kind of new-car scent they use in it. It's not a bad smell. Everyone likes a new car-smell.

There are snacks, wine and an ice machine but I do not eat anything but the wine is tempting. If I grabbed it though, my mother would take it right from my hand and give me a lecture about why alcohol is bad. I've only had alcohol a few times at parties and though I don't particularly like it, it would help me get through this awkward car ride.

We get to the palace gates and the driver rolls down the window and says something to a guard stationed outside. The gates open and we drive through. The palace really is beautiful. It looks old but still in amazing condition.

It is an off-white color with a brown and yellow pattern of the roof. It has many tower points and one tall, skinny tower full of books. I was not allowed in it when I was little but me and Alaric snuck in once.

We pull into an under-ground garage that is the size of a small parking lot. "The truck will pull around back, closer to your rooms." The driver says and opens the doors. As I walk out, I feel a small gust of wind. It smells of flowers. A smell I have missed. It has been a little over a year since I have been to the palace.

Alaric follows me out of the car and offers me his arm. Since we are dating now, and I have to play the part, I smile and loop my arm. He smiles at me and kisses my forehead.

We walk out of the garage and onto a stone pathway that leads to the huge front doors. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous to see his parents. They never scared me before but with my new status with their son, it's different.

The entrance to the palace comes into view and the royal family is standing in the middle, waiting to greet us. I hesitate to take my next step but it is short enough I don't think anyone would notice. Alaric looks at me and grins. "Don't worry." He tells me and it oddly calms me down.

I take a deep breath and take my next step.

This was a short chapter but I just felt like it was a good place to stop.
