I hate our country's royal family. There's King Charles Raimen, Queen Emily Raimen, Prince Alaric Raimen, and Princess Isabella Raimen. They're all over the news with their 6 story palace and glorious gowns and suits. I don't know how anyone could put up with them. I'm not sure how they put up with paparazzi, stress, and whatever else they could possibly deal with. Oh, and of course my mom is best friends with Queen.

I wake up, fully clothed from yesterday and ten minutes late for school. My mom leaves for work about an hour before I leave for school so she wont know thankfully. I pull one pair of gray sweats and a black crop top, brush my long black hair, put on mascara, and grab my book bag. As I walk out the door I put in my head phones and play my music.

When I get to school, Jaimie runs up to me. Jaimie has been my best friend since kindergarten. Were complete opposites. For example, she gets up early for school and I don't. She runs into me giving me a crushing bear hug. "Ready for senior year?!" she squeals in my ear. "You mean our last year before freedom?" I say it as a half joke. She gives me an annoyed look. "Yes, I'm excited." she gives me a skeptical look "sort of" I continue. She laughs and I do the same. "Well I have to go to class. I'll see you at lunch" she says.

The day goes by fast. It is the biggest school in all of Keta because Belued is the royal state. As I walk home, I spot Alaric, disguised as a commoner. This isn't unusual. He sneaks out of the palace, thinking he won't be recognized, but people always do. Girls love him. I suppose he could be attractive, but we were playmates when we were young so I cannot see him that way. He has already gathered a crowd of swarming fan girls. He Is honestly quite awkward when it comes to girls. He spots me in the distance and begins to walk over to me. I look him dead in the eye and shade my head slowly. It doesn't stop him. When he gets to me, he puts his arm around my waist and kisses my head. I hate him so much.

I see cameras flashing faster than the speed of light. "Just play along, please," He whispers in my ear. "You owe me," Most of the girls back off but even more people swarm, taking out their cameras as soon as they see who it is. He pulls me away from the paparazzi and into a nice restaurant.

"Does this make up for my horrible actions?" he asks me as we are seated at a corner booth. "No, but it's a good start." I give him a teasing smile. A waitress takes our orders and I check my phone. I have about 40 texts of people asking me if I'm dating Alaric. I already know we're going to be on the front page of every newspaper tomorrow. "How is your mother?" He asks me "She's good," I tell him. "And your father," "Is out of the picture." I shut down that conversation before it could start. My father left me and my mom about a year ago and married to some gold digging bimbo with three kids, all from different men. Him being one more person I hate.

"How is your mother?" I ask "Stressed," Before Alaric's mother married the king, she went to Keta prep boarding school with my mother. They shared a room and have been best friends ever since. "The world has become a scary place. The stress of possibly going to war with Colipion has really taken a toll on her." he continues. I'm not sure what to say to that. Our food comes and I dig in. "You realize our faces are going to be everywhere by morning, right?" I tell him. He smiles and takes a bite of his salmon.

I wonder what my next week at school will look like. Most likely, I will just be crowded by girls asking if I'm his girlfriend. I finish my food and shortly after Alaric does too. "Good?" he asks me and I nod. He pays the waitress for our luxury after-school snack. He stands next to where I am seated and gives me his hand. I roll my eyes and take it. When I stand he does not let go. "I'm not actually your girlfriend," I tell him "Oh, but today you are." he winks. As we walk out of the restaurant, three men with cameras and microphones are already standing there, with a crowd of people behind. I hate this.

I feel my hand, still laced with Alaric's, start to shake. He must be able to tell I'm nervous when he pushes our way through. "Run," he tells me with a sly smile. "What?!" Before I can do anything else, Alaric has already begun to run, dragging me along with him. We run for about 2 minutes before there is no more crowd. We are at a park and we sit on a bench. It's a bit cold and the sun is beginning to set. We sit for a moment without saying anything as we are both a little out of breath but I am the one to finally break the silence. "I should go home," He nods. "Will you walk, or do you want my driver to take you?" he asks. "Well I wouldn't mind a ride, but I think I'm just going to walk." "If you must," I give him a small smile and he gives one in return as I walk away.

OMG GUYS! Please let me know what you think!! This is my first book so don't crucify me if it totally sucks lmao.

Sneek peak into the next part - When I get home, Mom is on the couch reading a book. I set my bag down and go to find a snack in the kitchen. "Anything interesting happen today?" she mocks. Of course she knows. Everyone will know by morning. I roll my eyes at her, walking over to sit on the couch to the side of hers. "I hate him." I tell her, forming my lips into a line. "Yeah... pretending to be your boyfriend, not a great idea." she laughs. "I'm glad you find my awful experience amusing," I joke. "You'll have so much fun at school tomorrow!" It's going to be hell.
