Warnings: mentions of a past relationship which has ended in "unfortunate situation", and which has made the reader be kind of reluctant to commit to a new relationship because they're afraid it will hurt too, interpret that as you will but I thought to inform about it anyway.

After your last relationship and it ending in an unfortunate situation, you had decided that you don't want to fall in love again. It would only end up hurting. But when you started riding at Bright Fields stables after moving to the island with your parents, you quickly had befriended with one of the stable boys, and even developed feelings for him. But you were stubborn, love had hurt you enough already, so you kept those feelings hidden deep inside. You didn't want to get hurt again. You thought that you could handle being alone, but every day, talking to him and just seeing him made you fall deeper and deeper in love.
But even through it all, you were confident you had been good at keeping your feelings hidden. But of course the girls at the stables had picked up on something, and now they were teasing you mercilessly about how cute you two are together. You're weren't sure if you should have been flattered or embarrassed by it.
"I'm not in love with him," you groaned, rolling your eyes at the girls. "I mean, seriously. Pin and I, we are just friends."
Zoe grinned. "We won't stop until you admit it, you're head over heels for him."
You sighed. "He's my friend. That's all."
"Sure, sure. But he is really good-looking. I mean, Marcus is my type more, but he does look good," Becky declared.
"I don't know about that," you replied, but you did have to admit he was handsome. You paused for a moment as Pin's eyes crossed through your mind, but you pushed the thought of him away immediately. It wasn't like you were in love with him or anything... right?
But deep down, you knew it, as did everyone at the stables, you two were totally pining for each other.
