I was walking around the castle, trying to be as quiet as possible while making my way back to Gryffindor Tower

I was walking around the castle, trying to be as quiet as possible while making my way back to Gryffindor Tower. It was hours past curfew, I'd been to the kitchens to get a snack, but if I got caught I'd lose at least 10 house points, let alone receive a detention.

CRASH.

I whipped my head around to the noise, preparing myself to run, but my curiosity betrayed me and I started walking towards the noise, trying to be as quiet as possible.

Theodore Nott.

He was too busy fixing the brooms he knocked over to notice me coming around the corner.

It's a shame I'm not a prefect, because if I was I would've taken house points away from Slytherin and I would've enjoyed it.

"Nott."

He whipped his head up, his neck clearly tense showing he was scared to be caught. But once his eyes landed on me, he visibly softened.

"Love- I mean Lexi," He chuckled, fixing the last broom before standing straight. He was a lot taller than me, at least 6'2.

I looked at him weirdly, picking up on not only his mistake of calling me love but then to call me Lexi.

"Lexi?" I quietly scoffed, and my face scrunched up. "You're not allowed to call me that, Nott. You're not my friend."

He looked down at the ground, his face was hard to read in the dark, but from the moonlight shining through the windows and the little light the flame from the goblets offered, he looked upset.

"Sorry, I meant Alexis." He corrected himself again. "What are you doing up, Alexis? It's past curfew."

"I could ask you the same, Nott."

"I was making my way to the kitchens for a snack." He said, nodding his head in the direction of the kitchens. "I assume you were just there?"

I nodded my head in affirmation, "I was yes."

"You're clearly not very good at being quiet." I quietly laughed, looking towards the brooms he has previously knocked over.

Following my eyesight, he looked at the brooms then me, while chuckling with me. "Yeah" He said, clearly a little embarrassed by the way he was rubbing the back of his neck. "I didn't see those."

"Clearly. Well, I'll let you get back to it." I said, walking past him.

As I walked past him, I heard him mumble a 'goodnight.' Choosing to ignore it, I kept on walking when I stopped and turned around calling out to him.

He hadn't moved from where he was before, but instead, he was watching me walk away.

"Can ask you a question?"

He smiled, nodding his head almost too quickly. I slowly walked back to where he was standing, looking like a child on Christmas morning. "Earlier tonight, after we got off the train, Malfoy came and asked me about you." He sighed at my question.

"Yes, he told me. He also told me what you said." Theodore was still quite upset over the harsh rejection.

"Well then, you know exactly what I think." My response was harsh and brisk.

He didn't reply, instead, he gave me a sad smile.

"Why did Malfoy ask me about you?"

He paused, clearly thinking about how to respond to my question.

"He saw me looking at you on the train. I guess he thought it would be a good joke."

I hummed, curious why Malfoy would do something like that and not just make fun of him privately. "He's a good mate; he must think I like you or something, so he tried to set us up." He laughed.

"Curious", I lightly said. "And why were you looking at me on the train?"

He stared at the floor to his right. "Am I not allowed to look at you, princess?"

So he was getting smart with me.

"I'm going to ignore the nicknames and the attitude. But that wasn't what I was insinuating." I quipped.

"Then what were you insinuating?" He shot back.

"I was just wondering why you were looking at me. And if Malfoy were to ask what I thought about you must mean that you were staring, not looking."

"Fine, I was staring, alright. Happy?" He sighed, looking away from my eyes.

"Why were you-" I started. "Why was I staring? Because you are stunning, Lexi." There he was again with the nickname I told him he wasn't allowed to use. "Because you are breathtakingly beautiful."

Theodore Nott thought I was attractive?

He's pretty attractive. No Alexis, he's not a good person.

"Do you really think Malfoy would ask what you felt about me because I was staring at you? No." He sadly smiled.

"I've fancied you since first year, Lexi. Ever since I saw you on the train for the first time."

I nodded my head, contemplating what he had said. For five years, he's fancied me yet never told me. I wanted to respond, but I had no idea how.

"Say something, please. Anything." He begged, grabbing my hand in his.

"I'm sorry, I just, no one's ever said that to me" I slightly giggled, before quickly covering my mouth with my hand.

He smiled down at me, before looking around. He sighed and looked back down to me again.

"As much as I want to continue this conversation, and trust me, I'm desperate to hear what you have to say, it's getting late, and I don't want you to get caught so you need to go back to bed, Lexi." He softly smiled at me.

"I look forward to your reply, so I'll see you tomorrow, Love."
