We were pushed toward the rink. Annox moved with me. Looking up at him I glanced back to where Kessler and Relic still stood. He got my meaning. Ducking under the rope, I saw him move to Kessler’s side. He slipped a knife from his belt. Grinning I watched him put it into Relic’s waist band. The boy looked up at him a slow nod. Turning I faced Alton.

“You know you have only one chance to get out of this alive, right?” I asked. He smirked.

“Yeah, I kill you.” He was as tall as I was. The years living out of the outpost had taken their toll on his body. eThe starvation made his bones poke out in places. He was still muscular most likely from years as working as a hired gun out here. He would be fast but not as strong as he thought he was.

I moved away from him toward the opposite end of the ring. Closing my eyes I reached out to the dragon once more. Though I couldn’t hear him, I could feel him. His emotions at knowing I was there were high. I smiled to myself. Turning I caught Alton’s arm as he tried to encircle my neck. Throwing my elbow into his gut, I flung him over my shoulder.

Staying in a low crouch I watched him. He carefully pushed himself up to his knees. He was hurt, something I hadn’t counted on. Of course they would have fought being captured. I let the evil grin cover my face. It worked at pissing off my opponent, he flung himself at me, unthinkingly.

Grappling with him I taunted. “Byorin taught you better than this. Or at least he taught me better.” I shoved him away from me, sending an elbow into his face. His head jerked back. At the sign of the blood the crowed roared. I raised my hands, more cheering. Oh this was barbaric, but then again wasn’t I?

He came at me again. Crossing my arms in front of me, he bounced off as I shoved outward just as he impacted me. He flew back sliding along the dirt on his butt. He growled looking up to me. I heard Drusilla call out.

“Don’t lose your temper.” Laughing I looked down at the man.

“Listen to your girlfriend.” I teased. “Byorin always said your temper would get you killed one day, I guess today’s that day.” He charged me again. This time I allowed him to get his arms around me. He hung from me.

“Help us get out of here.” His tone was pleading. This shocked me. I pushed him back to see his face, wondering if he was relying on any sympathy I may have once had.

“She’s pregnant.” My eyes flung out to the girl hurtled against the side of the ring.

“She will live.” I told him as I flung him away from me again. I paced the corner of the cage. What was the best thing to do now? The anger in me wanted to end this fools life, but I didn’t know if he was the child’s father. What if this was just a ploy to get me to save them?

The boos started as we weren’t engaging each other. Circling I looked over to her. She stood silently fear in ever line of her body. As I drew close to that side of the ring, I called out to her. “Is it true?” Her head snapped up to me. Fear in her eyes. She flicked those chocolate brown eyes to the man moving in on my back. Her hand had involuntary went to her stomach. That was all the answer I needed.

“Is it his?” I flung my hand backwards to connect to the man’s face sending him staggering away once more. She shook her head, stepping closer to Varian. I nodded.

“Should I let him live?” Dropping low I spun in a circle, taking out the man’s legs. He sprawled out over the rink.

“No.” she said. I grinned. Alton saw the look on my face.

“Shit.” He swore. He held nothing back then. He came at me with everything, arms and legs swinging. Letting him wear himself out I blocked only those that would injure me if I didn’t.
