I fiddled with my keys as I made it to my door. "Hello dear." dad greeted as I came in. He gave me a bowl of popcorn he had been making. "I'm watching a movie, want to join?" he asked. I smiled at his offer, "Sure."Even while watching the movie, I couldn't get the Doctor out of my mind. It was like all the wonders and possibilities revolved around him.
"Darling, you alright?" dad snapped me out of my thoughts. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. "Yeah, sorry. Must be tired." He took a handful of his popcorn, "Well, don't fall asleep yet, the good part's coming up." he nudged.
After the movie, me and dad did the dishes. "You look off tonight, love. Did that assistant job go okay today?" he asked. I shrugged, "It could've been better." Dad stopped the faucet, "Did those kids bully you?" I patted his shoulder, "No, no. Nothing like that dad." He looked at me confused, "Then what's wrong?"
"Dad, if someone showed you a spaceship disguised as a box that could disappear and reappear, would you go with them?" He looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "Where did that question come from?" I sighed, "Just answer the question, dad."
He stood there for a moment. "I think I would. Yeah, I definitely would." he nodded. "How come?" I questioned, drying off the bowls we had used earlier for popcorn. "Oh, darling think of the possibilities of that box. I mean, it's a spaceship!" I began to drift off into my own thought as my father went into more and more detail about why he would go.
"Alright dad, I'm going to sleep." I suddenly interrupted. "Oh, well, goodnight then." he kissed the top of my head before I went off to my room.
The next day, I woke up early. Earlier then my mum and my dad. I wanted to get to work before the Doctor did. Once I got to the school, I quickly made my way to the Doctor's classroom. To my surprise, he was sitting at his desk. "You're up quite early." he said. I decided to just ignore him for the time being, which he didn't take too kindly to.
Throughout the day, he would bother me about going to get a cuppa, or even going to the library. The students got a kick out of it too. "Ms. Monet, the Doctor's asking you out." they would tease. Later after school, I tried my best to get everything done as fast as possible so I didn't have to be around the Doctor.
When I was about to leave, "Josie, could you come here for a second?" I turned to him with a fake smile on my face, "Doctor, I'd like to get home. Can it wait till tomorrow?" He stood up and put a stack of papers in my hand. "I'd like for you to grade these." I groaned, going to the nearest seat and sitting down. "Or, you could come get dinner with me." I sighed, "Dinner it is." I placed my pencil down on the desk and stood up.
"You know, you sure are persistent." I commented as we walked. "And you're extremely hard to convince." he countered. I nodded to myself, "Fair."
After dinner, we walked to a park near the school. We sat on a bench lighted by a streetlamp. "You said it was a spaceship." I spoke up, ruining the silence. "Yes, it is." he said, nodding his head. "Why be a teacher, then?" I turned to him. He shrugged, "I don't know. I got bored. I tend to teach at schools from time to time." He continued to ramble for a few until I interrupted, "The blue box spaceship thing, can I see it?"
His face lit up with excitement. He quickly jumped up and held out his hand, "Shall we?" I felt flustered at the act, but I took his hand. We practically ran to the alleyway where the blue box was. "Here she is." he announced, letting go of my hand. The warmth of his hand soon faded.
"I still don't get how you have enough room in there." I raised an eyebrow. "You'll see." he opened the doors. This time, curiosity took full control. I stepped closer to the box, the yellow light inside shined bright.
