(Name) walked into the daycare, nearly tripping over the running children as she let out a laugh. Oh how she missed being that energetic.
Perhaps that's why she decided to start working at the daycare. It didn't matter what anyone else said to her, but they seemed to have a lot of warnings. Mostly about the daycare attendant.
But, she figured they were just trying to scare her, she was a newbie after all. That's when she heard screaming.
A pit formed in her stomach and her heart felt like it dropped as she ran to the source of the screaming as her eyes widen.
What she saw..was not a horrific accident, it was just an animatronic, with it's arms out as the children clung to it, screaming and laughing as it slowly spun it's torso around in a circle.
Immediately that fear left (Name). Instead she took the time to look at it. This was what everyone was afraid of?
The animatronic was in fact tall, and didn't have any pupils, which was a little off putting, but it's wide smile was almost comforting. It had a half moon half sun appearance, with rays that would move in and out of its head at random intervals. It's outfit was, well it was adorable. It's puffy pants and it's bells made it adorable.
It seemed to have enough as it put the children down as they stumbled dramatically with one falling over as the animatronic was over the child in a second, looking like it was about to have a break down before the child sat up as it placed a large hand over where it's heart would be.
Now that, that was adorable.
"Excuse me." (Name) spoke up as the animatronic suddenly turned to her, it only took a few long strides to be right in front of her as it's faceplate suddenly spun before he stopped it. "ho ho ho! New friend!"
It was at this point she realized just how tall he was compared to her. He must be at least nine feet tall. He suddenly reached out as he picked her up, holding her by her armpits as he looked at her, his face plate spinning again as he seemed to just be staring before the spinning stopped.
"Sorry Friend, I don't see you on the pickup list." He said as she realized he thought she was a parent. "Oh! No I'm sorry, I'm (Name) (Last Name) I'm an employee!" She said smiling as the sun immediately placed her down, putting a distance between them, as if she told him she had the plague.
"Sorry--oh I'm sorry. Please don't be mad friend. I am so sorry I didn't know. Oh bad Sun bad Sun." His hands wring each other. Did...Did they give the daycare attendant fucking anxiety?
"Sorry for what?" She asked. She had anxiety, she knew exactly how it felt when you were scared you pushed someone's boundaries. So she was ready to reassure him. "You did nothing wrong."
However the sun shook its head. "No-- No I'm not supposed to touch employees. No that's no good." "Sun, right?" She asked as he stopped his muttering as he looked at her.
"I promise. It's okay that you touched me. It's okay. You're probably going to have to, since I'm working here with you." She said as that seemed to cheer the sun up. A lot.
He immediately grabbed her again, spinning her now. "Oh! Oh you're so kind Sunshine! Oh so nice! So nice!" For someone so scared of touching her a second ago, he was very hands on.
He then stopped as something seemed to click. "You...You want to work here? With me?" He sounded..scared. Not just scared, hopeful. She remembered she was told no one stayed long.
She had a guess that it was his energy, but she didn't really mind it. "Yeah, I heard a lot about you, but I didn't let that stop me, I want to get to know you myself." She said as she noticed his rays were speeding up as his face spins. Guess that meant he was happy.
The rest of the morning was spent chasing after the children, helping them on and off the jungle gym, and making arts and crafts with Sun, who seemed to want to keep his craft secret, anytime (Name) would try to look over he'd cover it with his arm, or hold it over his head, knowing damn well she wouldn't be able to see it.
By Naptime she got her first break, and Sun, well he was acting weird. "I think I'm going to have break in here--" "No!" He realized how loud he was as he covered his mouth. "I mean, no, sorry sunshine, it's not you it's just it's Naptime and it can get really loud when kids don't want to sleep." "I can help you, I don't mind--" "nope! It's your break! Why don't you go to the gift shop?" He said, now picking her up again and opening the daycare doors, placing her down before shutting them.
"Sun! Sun my wallet is still--" the lights went out in the daycare as she sighed. Looks like she's going to have to wander the Plex.
Sun grabbed onto his chest. That was close. To close. He didn't listen to you calling for him. It was for your own safety..and his own selfish desire to keep you here. What if moon scared you away on your first day?
Moon wasn't bad, he was just..intense. He scared a lot of the previous workers away. Sun didn't want to lose you. You were so nice. You let him touch you, let him hug you. You both just clicked in a way he hasn't been able to with others.
He thought back on your face during crafts, seeing your little pout whenever you'd fail to see his art. It was a secret. For you. He'd give it to you after the day was done..maybe then you'd come back.
He didn't have much time to think before the lights went out as he felt moon take over.
