°All's fair in love and war°

Marcus rushed like there was no tomorrow- heck it might as have been the case for Thando and his baby. Would he be there on time to see her or at least be present if anything happened to her during birth?

"Who am I kidding, the pregnancy was not easy."

In that moment Marcus felt himself give up on life. It was the beginning of a new one but if Thando died he would not be around to see his little one grow up.

"Come on Thando, death won't help either of us here, you need to stay."

A little hope sparking up in his heart.

"Adam."

Thando called, the pain visible in her words. Calling out while struggling to move even a finger without hurting herself.

"I - call Adam."

"Trust me Thando that should be the least of your worries right now and shouldn't you be still? Weren't you unconscious? Heck I'm happy you're okay."

Marcus parked out giving out silent prayers thankful that Thando was alive. A little irritated that his questions went unanswered.

"Help, I need help- she was hit by a car!My car."

Tears were streaming down his face at point. He was calling for help while remembering his mistake - saying the last sentence rather to himself.

"Yes, thank you we need help and my baby- my baby's coming. Can we go in now?"

An eventful day for Marcus however one would argue that it was much more memorable for Thando.

Thando was pushed into the ER, low moans escaped with the pain of the rush for her life.

"We have a twenty-year old female, car accident she might have a fractured rib and her BP is low."

Those words created a blur for Thando. Everything else was just forgotten. In that moment she had to be kept alive.

"She has a deflated lung, we have to deal with that first and get her family in case we have to operate."

The ER was a rush and the neonatal ward was making it difficult to deem the day a favourite.

"Flat line."

"Twice. Doctor my daughter flatlined twice while I've been paying you to prepare for this moment. I can't even emphasise enough how expensive your services are - I don't even know-"

"Mr Fischer, I did my best and I still am. Your daughter is still with us, allow space to do my job."

"You can't tell me to give space - I gave you enough space. Is it because I denied the C-section? Is that why you treat us like middle class people. I'll be sure to ruin you Doctor Sanchez."

Marcus would not be the first person from his family to ruin anyone - they did that for leisure and now Thando was a victim.

Twice. She was ruined by two members of Fischer family twice in the same day. Was it not enough that she practically lost her family and now because of Marcus she could possibly die without them around around.

Surely, that had to be cruel.

Marcus left the ward trying to cool off and to deliver some news to the family, he was facing possible jail time, whether or not Thando was dead.

"What is it now?"

"You... answered."

"Is that what you needed from? To see whether or not I'd answer?"

"Thando-"

"If it's about her marriage well, if you want her take her. We won't hand her over. If that's all I want to leave sham of a party you Fischers organised."

"She's in hospital, dammit Josia. She was hit - my car hit her."

"Which hospital?"

"Emmarentia Academic. I'm sorry man, you know she's like a daughter to me."

"Until such a time that you and nephew scammed her of her right or was it until your daughter was born?"

"Josia you know that you're not being fair."

Tears leaving his now bloodshot eyes, Marcus felt himself pleading with Josia. With all that had happened in less than an hour, Marcus's love for Thando was forgotten. Thando was the daughter Marcus now had and as horrible the idea, Thando was quick losing the spot in Marcus's heart because of his new born.

"You can't tell me about being fair."

Marcus hung up sobing. Everything was catching up him :his daughter flatlined, he almost killed Thando and Rebecca's health was still in question.
