True to her word, Isabela was slowly rekindling your relationship. Sure, she seemed to be spending every waking moment with you and it kind of took a bit for you to get used to her presence, but she was trying. She still helped around the village but Isa would always somehow linger around your vicinity. You didn't exactly go out of your way to look for her but you didn't avoid her like before. The two of you considered it an improvement.
The two of you were in your basement as you were making a custom ring. The bulkhead entrance was open so that you could get fresh air while the furnace poured smoke. Isa had wanted to watch you work since it was her day off and although you insisted on her spending it somewhere else because of the harsh fumes, she stayed to watch.
You had gloves on as you were hollowing out the gold. Your brows knitted together as you concentrated closely, completely wrapped up in your work and clueless to Isa's staring. She was jolted out of her daydream when you called out to her.
"Bela, could you pass me- Ay! Dios!" Isabela suddenly sprouted flowers. She grew a variety of them. Begonias, roses, and carnations. It wouldn't be a problem if some of them didn't grow from your furnace. This only made the flames go higher and an increase of smoke to come out.
"¡Perdona! ¡Perdona!" she apologized with a high-pitched voice. She wasn't expecting you to call her something like that so casually. The two of you tried to close the steel furnace. It went down with a rusty creak and heavy slam, stopping the heat and smoke from coming out. You sighed in relief before glancing at the flower girl. Her hair was a mess. The light blue streak of hair was over her face and the wildflower that she kept was out of place on her head.
Her dress, though it was already messy with pollen, was even more dirty thanks to the ash from your forge. You silently laughed at what just happened, which only increased in volumes as the seconds passed.
At first, Isabela was confused but then your infectious laugh plagued her with her own giggling fit. It was as if everything around had disappeared and it was just the two of you. A sweet distraction from the outside world. If love was a sickness then Isabela had it bad.
You took off your metal stained mitts and moved some hair off your face. "Let's get some fresh air, yeah? I could use the break."
After washing yourself off, the two of you went out into the plaza. Isa sat next to you on the fountain. A radiating smile on her face as she watched you. When you did turn to her, you raised a brow. You wiped your mouth just in case you had some leftover crumbs from your snack.
"Something on my face?"
"No, I just like staring at you," she answered.
You were about to comment on the behavior but then you heard a familiar friend. You missed the way Isa rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"Ehi! È bello vederti!" Cornelio greeted.
You turned and greeted him back with your own grin. "Buenas tardes, Cornelio. What brings you out?"
"Just collecting some paint for my next project before I pick up Juancho. I see that you patched things up with your friend." He chuckled as you nodded, unaware of Isa's glare at your brunette friend.
You heard a sudden crash from the nearby school. "Ah. I think he got too impatient."
He softly laughed. "Believe it or not, he's got a few questions for you. Thinks that working with steel is cool and such. Would you mind bringing him here for me?"
You didn't mind spending time with the caffeinated kid so you left to go look for him. This left Isa and Cornelio alone with each other.
"So are you going to tell them or are you waiting for a certain time?"
