"Where'd you go? I thought they were with you!" My jaw dropped as I stared at him.
"Excuse me, but you were the one who left me in a room full of stupid men, lost in the crowd!" Rolling my eyes, I sat down on the bed. "Where, may I ask, did you run off to in such a hurry?" He sighed as he sat down in the chair by the door.
"Forgive me, Era. Your friends were drawing too much attention to themselves... I'm sorry for leaving you the way I did." I glanced over at Frodo, who hung his head.
"Sorry, Era. I slipped... and fell... Then the ring slipped onto my finger and turned me invisible." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Yeah, way to go..." Huffing, I smiled a little. "By the way, Strider... I told some guy that I was your sister in order to get out of some tough situation downstairs." He chuckled and shook his head.
"Okay, little sister... Get some rest."
I wish I could say that I slept great that night, but, truth was, I didn't sleep at all. Instead, I sat up all night, listening to the sounds of the night, which frightened me, especially when I heard the screams in the middle of the night. Shooting up in my furs, I noticed Aragorn watching the window, cautiously. I rubbed my eyes and stood up.
"What was that?" He looked over at me and nodded towards the hobbits, who had been awoken.
"Those are ringwraiths..." I swallowed hard as I looked out the window and saw the same creature we'd seen on the road. As Aragorn explained what ringwraiths were, I sat back down on my furs and took a deep breath, the memories once again overwhelming me. Before long, one of the memories of the memories seemed to come to life.
I was surrounded by darkness, fighting off several stange figures that resembled the dark rider who chased us from the Shire. Strider fought by my side, waving around a torch. Suddenly, one of the creatures reached Frodo and stabbed him in the shoulder...
"Era..." I jerked awake and saw Aragorn staring at me. "It's time to prepare to leave." Nodding to the hobbits, he stood up. "Go ahead and wake them, and I will get breakfast and pack our supplies." Nodding, I stood up and woke each hobbit. Before long, we were on the road towards Rivendell. "Rivendell is not far from Bree. We will be there in less than a week."
We travelled from sunrise to sunset, marching along the road. With no horse or pony to ride, it took us longer to get more than 20 miles a day. However, one day, we reached some old ruins. Here, Aragorn stopped and looked at us.
"We will camp here... Rivendell is less than a day away. No fires..." Looking at me, he nodded. "I want you to scout out the south side of the ruins and keep an eye out for the ringwraiths. I will watch the north." I nodded and took off for the woods, carrying my bow, my sword, and my quiver of arrows.
Patrolling the woods for hours, I sniffed the air, just as Mother taught me, and sat down on a rock to rest. Everything seemed too quiet. Looking up at the dark moon, I felt the urge to howl but decided against it, knowing it would give away our position. Suddenly, the smell of smoke caught my attention. Looking back to the ruins, I saw a small light from a fire.
"Oh no..." Racing back, I was scolding the hobbits as I put out their fire. "Are you crazy? You could have been..." Before I could finish, I heard a series of screams and shrieks. "Too late..." Drawing my sword, I batted at the hobbits as I turned my back to them. "Get back!" Standing ready, I saw 9 dark figures approach us from the dark.
Okay, I've only taken on 5 Orcs myself, but 9 ringwraiths? I prayed that Aragorn would arrive soon because I knew we were in trouble. I growled as I pointed my blade at the nearest ringwraith, who hefted his own. Ignoring me, I brushed past me towards the hobbits.
"Oh no, you don't!" With that, I attacked.
The first ringwraith pried my advance away, and I was met by the second one. Striking its hand with the hilt of mine, I made him drop his sword and turned back to the first one. Dropping to the ground, I kicked out and, hitting it behind the knee, knocked it off its feet. The third one grabbed me from behind as the fourth raised its blade. Ducking, I doubled over as the third shrieked when the blade stuck it.
*Thorin's Pov-
"Era!" We'd travelled through the Misty Mountains and to the woods outside of Rivendell, still looking for Era. Fili and Kili rode on either side of me, looking into the underbrush. Suddenly, we heard unearthly screams pierce the silent night. Fili looked around nervously.
"Uncle, what was that?" I thought back to the tales my father told me as a child about the war against Mordor.
"Those... Those were ringwraithes." Dwalin pulled his pony to a stop.
"We should turn back towards Rivendell..." I nodded and started to lead them back to Rivendell.
*Era's Pov-
Before I could reach the fifth one, I noticed one was advancing towards Frodo. Thinking fast, I charged, placing myself between Frodo and the ringwraithe. The creature's blade pierced my shoulder, and I let out a scream so loud, it hurt my own ears.
*Thorin's Pov-
We'd just turned towards Rivendell when a new scream filled the air. This scream sounded more life-like and filled with pain. I frowned as I watched Fili and Kili go pale.
"What is it...?" Kili swallowed hard.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say that sounded like Era..." We immediately rode off towards the source of the sound.
