CHAPTER 2: Into the Academy

PREVIOUSLY ON NARUTO : THE SAGE GOD -

"Alright Naruto, I will visit you again tomorrow. Get well soon." - He said.

"But, I am perfectly fine. Believe it. They have kept me here for God knows what reason." - I whine......uhh thought, just thought.

"Yeah whatever, just be sure to not cause any mischief here." - He said with smile before exiting the room.

'Boy, it sure is going to be 5 long months.' - I thought.

PRESENT TIME -

3rd POV

It indeed was 5 long months for Naruto. I mean other than training and sparring with Natsumi, he had nothing much to do. Also, Natsumi now could come out of Naruto's body physically. They spent their time together in each other's company, and they were growing quite close to each other. Other then that, nothing much happened in these months...... well, other than  Iruka's books that is. He was absolutely forced to read them by him, and boy did he hate them. He wasn't a book lover from the beginning and these books of chakra control and stuff made living only more and more boring for poor Naruto. Especially when he didn't even need it as he already had a pretty good chakra control. Anyways, today would be the day Naruto re-enrolls into the academy, after 3 years. And he was standing at the front of the room of his class, waiting for Iruka to call him in.

INSIDE IRUKA'S CLASS

"Ok class, SILENCE" - Iruka shouted, making the entire class sweat and keep their mouths shut........other than the lazy Nara who was silent from the beginning.......uh, as he was asleep.

"This year, we have a new student in class. You can come inside now." - Iruka said as Naruto came in. Sasuke's and Hinata's eyes widened.

'It's him' - They both thought, for different reasons of course.

"Hello, my name is Naruto Uzumaki. Nice to meet you, believe it" - Our cute little blonde head shouted out in excitement.

"Ok Naruto, you make seat beside Hinata. Hinata, please raise your hands" - Iruka asked and Hinata did the same, except, her face was partially red, to which Natsumi in Naruto's mind giggled

After the introductions, the classes went pretty much like any other.......absolutely boring, until a certain raven haired boy came up to Naruto during the break and asked shakily.

"H-hey N-Naruto" - Naruto looked at him curiously before smiling 

"Hey, uhhhh......what's your name" - Naruto asked.

"I-it's Sasuke." - He replied, again shakily.

"My name is Naruto, believe it" - He said innocently.

"Y-yeah, so....., c-can I talk to you later, after the classes end" - Sasuke asked him and he replied, again smiling - 

"Yeah, sure." - By this time, all of the fangirls of Sasuke were glaring at Naruto because he would 'waste' Sasuke's time after classes, as if that time were meant for them and them only, while a certain Hyuga was staring at Naruto, again with a half red face.

AFTER THE CLASSES

3rd POV

Naruto was walking down the road, heading towards Sasuke's home, the address of which Sasuke gave him after classes. His face suddenly brightened up as he could see the raven haired  boy standing at a distance.

"Hey Sasuke, what did you want to talk to about?" - Naruto asked, and as he did, he could see Sasuke's face noticeably drop.

"T-that day......N- Naruto, I-I" - Sasuke stated, his words got shakier at the end.

"Oh yeah, which day"- Naruto asked casually. Little did he know that he was in for a surprise.

"That day..........O-October 10th I-I saw y-you,......I-I cou-could not he-help you. I s-saw you d-d-die. Your p-pain and s-suffering w-was un-unwatchable. B-but I didn't h-help ....you then, I couldn't.......I-I am s-so-sorry......." - He opened up as big drops of tears started to drop from his eyes. It was true he watched a boy of his age die. And he couldn't even help him. So shaken he was. And Naruto's eyes widened with every passing word of his.

"Y-you saw me that day?" - Naruto asked Sasuke. The latter closed his eyes, form which tears were still flowing like a waterfall as the image of the 8 year old boy dieing helplessy kept on coming in his mind. All that guilt had been haunting him for all these days. Now he knew that Naruto may snap anytime as he didn't do a single thing to stop or at least reduce his pain and suffering. He was waiting for his outrage as his heart beat really fast. He instead felt a hand on his shoulder. Opening his eyes, he saw a pair of blue eyes staring into his. 

"I am sorry you had to view such a gruesome incident with your eyes. It should not be seen by any child. And before you ask why I am not angry on you for not helping me.....I know what it feels like to be helpless. And you were too shaken to help me. It's understandable you know, any child would have been traumatized and left their dreams of becoming a ninja. However, you stayed strong. I could never be angry on you for not doing something no child can" - Naruto said with a now large and genuine smile. Sasuke widened his eyes before giving a sad smile himself and said - 

"Naruto, you know, about three months before that incident, my clan was slaughtered by my own brother, and for those three months, I was drunk on having my revenge. I thought I was the only one who had suffered so much. But, on seeing you that day, I realized that my pain, it was nothing compared to yours, you ha to suffer that day. So much, mine looked like an ant to yours. I realized my mistake and ever since, I had been training to get stronger. Not to take revenge but to ask him about the truth about the incident." - He gave a long pause and looked into the sky as a lone tear shed from his eye as he spoke again -

"But still, from that day I have been haunted by those painful views and screams of yours. I wanted to apologize to you so bad, but you were dead. I-I was so happy to see you today, knowing that I could finally apologize to you for not helping you. Wait, speaking of which, HOW ARE YOU ALIVE?" - He shouted out as the realization hit him hard.

'Oh no.....should I tell him?" - He instantly asked his friend .......Natsumi.

'Well I don't see any problems, he is an Uchiha but he is good. But don't tell him today, tell him later, then I will come out to spare you a long boring explanation' - Natsumi replied.

'Oh, sure' - he replied back before saying to Sasuke.

"Uhhh.... I will tell you tomorrow, for now let's do one thing." - Sasuke nodded and asked - 

"And what would that be?" - Naruto's smile grew bigger and he said - 

"For starters, let me say again that I forgive you completely as it was not your fault at was tthe villager's fault......no, that awful ninja who mind controlled the Kyuubi's fault, and I am gonna get him for that someday." - He told Sasuke, who instantly questioned -

"The Kyuubi was mind controlled? How did you know that?" - Naruto, at this point started sweating.

"Uhh.......as I told I would say you tomorrow" - Sasuke narrowed his eyes before nodding. Naruto instantly regained his smile and he raised his fist before saying happily - 

Let's become friends." - Sasuke's eyes widened and after a long pause he looked at Naruto's blue eyes before meeting his own fist with Naruto's. 

"Friends" - He said smiling. Naruto literally started to jump inn joy as it was not everyday that the demon child of the village got a new friend, on the first day of his academy nonetheless.

"Alright, so, from tomorrow, would you mind if we trained together?" - He asked and Sasuke thought for a bit before replying - 

"Not really, you know that I am training to get stronger, and having a friend to spar with would only help me" - Naruto's smile literally grew larger than his own face.

"Oh yeah, I will come tomorrow after classes then, believe it. Okay, goodbye Sasuke, see you tomorrow." - He waved his hands before heading his way back home.

"Goodbye Naruto" - Sasuke replies with a light smile. Although if he didn't show it, he was extremely for two reasons. First, he got the chance to apologize to the kid he saw all those months ago. The second one being.......he had got his first friend. Things just got a lot more interesting for both Naruto and Sasuke.

Alright. That sure took a lot out of me. Anyways, this chapter was solely to develop the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. And yeah, if you couldn't guess it already, the boy from the end of Prologue Part 1 is Sasuke himself.
