THE SMITHSONIANNAUTICAL ARTIFACT EXHIBIT 1:00 AM

𝙰𝚂 𝙿𝚁𝙾𝙼𝙸𝚂𝙴𝙳, 𝚂𝙴𝚁𝙴𝙽𝙸𝚃𝚈 𝙲𝙰𝙼𝙴 𝙱𝙰𝙲𝙺. That hunk of metal, once covered in grime, blood and dirt held sentimental value. It was the last thing of her father's and, the redhead intended on getting it back, no matter the cost.
Even if that meant kicking some stranger's ass after she'd finally slipped past security; made it to the nautical artifact exhibit. There stood a blond boy, standing in awe. His blue eyes took the coin in, his face scrunched in concentration at the sight.
No way in hell is he taking my coin.
❝Enjoying the history?❞
Serenity leant back against the nautical exhibit's wall. Her lips were pursed, her hip jutted out. The redhead watched as the blond staring at her coin gasped, he obviously wasn't expecting her to be there, watching him.
❝How did you even get in here?❞
That was his only response.
❝I could ask you the same thing, who breaks into the Smithsonian at midnight?❞
Obviously, a kid who was smart. This blond in front of her had to be a couple of years older than her; with brains, too. He must've known the shift change was at midnight, giving him five minutes of peace to steal something in the room, too.
Serenity had a feeling it was her coin. She could NOT let that happen.
❝Hate to break it to you,❞ Serenity sent him a sassy smirk, ❝but you're not stealing it, that artifact belongs to my family, I'm taking it.❞
The blond sent her a look, he was silently saying, bring it on. His cocked eyebrow and tilted head said it all. This boy was cocky and had a bad attitude.
❝I don't think so.❞ He shook his head in disagreement.
Serenity pretended to ponder for a minute. The girl looked down at her nails before looking up at him. ❝Suit yourself.❞
A few short strides and Serenity was living her name down, rather than reigning truth to it. Nothing was serene as she skillfully flipped the blond onto his back, taking him by surprise.
That wasn't the end of the fight. After recovering from getting winded, the blond grabbed her ankle, pulling her down to him.
❝Fuck off, please.❞ She rolled her eyes.
Wow. Who was this girl?!
Serenity had always been known for her bubbly and optimistic self. Not a downright bitch. This guy was aggravating. Who the hell did he think he was stealing her fucking coin?
❝Sweetheart,❞ he flipped her onto her back, pinning her underneath him, ❝I hate to break it to you but, I'm taking it, I got here first, first come first serve.❞ He winked at her.
Serenity raised her eyebrows unamused. The girl reached her hand up, tugging the boy down by his shirt, pulling him closer. ❝Not gonna happen, blondie.❞
With that, Serenity wrapped her fingers around the mystery boy's wrist, her fingertips dug into a pressure point, taking him by surprise, giving Serenity an advantage point.
THUMP.
Now, Serenity was on top of the boy, her hands were on his chest and she looked down at him,
❝Do me a favour, blondie, stay right where you are.❞
Serenity raised her hand, she struck the side of his neck; the boy underneath her fainted.
Thank god for those self-defence classes grandpa Magnus always made her take, they finally paid off. Part of Serenity felt a tinge of guilt leaving the boy on the ground but, the coin was more important.
And once the hunk gold was in her hand, all feelings of guilt washed away. It was hers and nobody would take it away from her, ever, again.
