lost in a flowerbed

lost in thought or drowning in emotions,

laying down soft sheets but not with the warmth I'm so used to,

where would I have ended up if it wasn't for you?

every heartbeat replaced with cold tears that roll down a fake smile and unto furry blankets.

seeing flower petals fall from my ceiling as your lips leave and disappear.

every cup of coffee we shared,

the mocha filling up my bedroom and the indie music deafening reality,

every page of fantasy, those corny drama scenes, all things our eyes set upon,

from your body to your lips, as addicting as nicotine,

my perception blurs as this documentary turned fiction.

lost all hope in apologies, a black forest with no cherries, a sweet tea with no raspberries.

as we wake up from a shared dream all those flowers wither from roses to lilies,

I guess the uncertainty got the best of we.our love sinks through the vines,

entangled and locked at somewhere within,

just above the dirt but not above the stems,

we see hints of it but only behind thorns that sting,

good riddance to our stories, all now lost in a flowerbed of memories.
