~Present time~
March 12, 2015
After that tragedy, Zayn was never able to go back to his normal self. He couldn't put a feet inside his old house without crumbling to the ground by just thinking of that dreadful day, the day he lost his daughter and wife in a car crash. All because he couldn't let go of his job. If only he had decided to put his phone away and ignore that text, but all he can do now is regret and drown in his own pity.
He remembers that day clearly and has nightmares every night about it. Every night was a routine: cry himself to sleep, then wake up sweating and panting from the horrible nightmares. It was a never ending cycle and he needed to get out before he got crazy.
Zayn was a new man after he lost his family. He used to be ambitious and a workaholic who only cared about himself. He never got worried about other people except his wife and his daughter, but that was another subject. He was a really selfish man and maybe that's why life decided to give him a lesson in the cruelest way possible. Of course, he had learned from that harsh lesson.
Zayn was a wealthy man, CEO of his own company. Malik Enterprises was a well-known company around the world. He had different buildingsall over the countries and he was at the top of the charts. That used to make him feel great about himself. He even used to brag about it with everyone. Well, it was more like shoving it in their faces, but now it's nothing. It doesn't feel good to be that successful if he doesn't have his family to share it with.
He started giving his money away to places and people that needed it more than he did. He gave his house away to a homeless man and his many cars to random people that he thought that deserved it. Any person who sees him now wouldn't recognize him. He has an old beat up car and he is living in a little apartment away from the city, close to a little town called Holy Grail.
He felt good with his actions because it always feels like the right thing to do, although he wished that those same actions could take away the grief he felt inside. That it would take away all his sadness and just let him be in peace, but he knew that was impossible, even though he had high hopes about getting away of that sadness that's slowly eating him away.
Zayn entered a coffee shop that was in the neighboring little town of Holy Grail, which he goes often. He ordered his Chai tea with milk and two spoons of sugars, and then sat down on one of the tables, waiting for the petite and charming girl named Indie to serve his drink. All the employees knew him of course, because he was a regular customer. They were all teenagers that struggled with their life, but had a decent job and were all very well paid. How does Zayn know this? Simple; he's the owner of this coffee shop, but nobody knows this. He looked up everyone that currently works here and searched their background story. After approving of them, he gave them all a call offering them the job, and that's how they got to work here at the "Magnificent Café".
After smiling at the gray headed girl when she gave her his drink, he looked out the window. There's all types of emotions out there. Everyone lives such a rushed life nowadays that it's sad to watch. They don't appreciate the little things in life and when they do, it's always just a little bit too late. He wishes everyone could learn from his lesson, but that won't ever occur unless the same tragedy happens to them.
He heard the bells from the front door ring and watched a curly haired lad walk inside the coffee shop. His pale skin looked like snow and he had curly locks as brown as chocolate. When he turned around he noticed that his eyes where green like a forest and that he had lips that looked like sin. Zayn shook his head, taking his eyes away from the tall lanky lad before he catches him. He sighed and took another glance at the lad, studying him from top to bottom. From the way the boy was dressed, it was obvious that he wasn't wealthy, but then again, looks can deceive.
He kept staring until he felt the pair of forest-like eyes watching him too. When he looked up, he saw the curly lad staring at him with a confused expression. Zayn stared back and watched as the heat rose to the boy's cheeks. He smiled and looked away, taking a sip of his tea and returning his view out the window. He finished his drink quickly and just when he was about to stand up, the curly lad sat in front of him.
"Hi. I'm Harry . . . uhm . . . Styles," the boy spoke, silently and shyly to Zayn. That made Zayn chuckle and he then shook his head in return.
"I'm Zayn. Nice to meet you." He doesn't risk saying his last name because, not to be cocky about it, but everyone knows about him. It's the truth, and not only because of his multi-millionaire company, but also because of that car crash. He pushed his thoughts away and paid attention to the boy in front of him.
"So . . . uhm . . . do I know you from somewhere? I feel like I've seen you before," Harry said, studying Zayn's face.
"I don't think so, boy," Zayn chuckles back, looking away.
"You know, just because you're older than me doesn't mean you can call me a boy. I'm a 26 year oldyoung lad," Harry points out, making Zayn look at him with an amused expression on his face.
"I'm not that old either, boy. I'm only 30 years old," Zayn replied, smirking and tapping his fingers on the table.
Harry rolled his eyes and sighed, "So, are you a regular customer here?"
Zayn curtly nodded, "Yeah, you?"
"No, it's my first time because I just moved in," he shrugged.
"Oh, so how are you liking it so far?"
"It's nice. Everyone is so polite and life is less rushed here. That's what I need right now, because of the state I'm in."
"What did you mean by that?" Zayn asked, with a confused expression on his face.
"Oh, it's nothing!" the curly haired lad chuckled as he stood up. "Nice meeting you, Zayn."
He put his hand out and Zayn grabbed it, giving him a nice hand-shake as he smiled.
''Ditto" replied, putting an end to their conversation.
