The Day

Rin woke up. It's the day, he sighed. Then, he literally jumped out of bed and yelled as loud as he could,

"UUUUUURRAAAAAHHH!" to wake himself up. He skipped to his closet, grabbed his uniform, flew into his garage, jumped onto his Kettenkrad, hit 'OPEN' on his remote, and before it could open and close properly, sped through the garage door, ducking along the way, and ran out onto the road in no time. He sped through the empty streets, so early it was, so he took extra care to disrespect the traffic laws more than he usually did. He was just reaching the school gates as he heard his cell phone ring.

'Screeech!'

He halted one the side of a road, pulled it out, and answered. As soon as he had put the cell phone to his ear, he heard Miho talking distressedly through the phone.

"Hey Rin, I'm at Mako's house right now, but she's not waking up!" Rin sighed.

"Urgh!" Miho teared at Mako's sheets, but she wasn't budging. "Hey Mako, please wake up! We're having a match!" Miho continued struggling, but to no avail.

"I'm tired." Came the stubborn response of Mako.

"What about your Units?!" Miho cried, trying to convince Mako.

"It's a problem." Mako conceded.

"Then please wake up!" Miho followed up again.

"Impossible is impossible." Mako stubbornly insisted. Miho was about to cry out another motivating phrase, when they heard the sound of a bugle horn soaring through the air. Miho opened the door to the outside to find Yukari being the one to play it. As Yukari took her lips from the play piece, she greeted them.

"Good morning!" She didn't have much time to say anything else, since as she finished speaking, the Panzer IV raised its turret to the highest degree possible, then fired. The sound echoed through the nearby blocks as people were scared awake. Mako finally looked up to see the tank, and Rin peering out of the commander's hatch.

"Next one's going into your house, Now move it!" Rin bellowed, while Yukari apologised to the residents. Nothing more had to be said, as Mako finally obediently got out of her bed. They drove through the town, with many locals gawking at them as they made their way off of the carrier.

-------------------

As the Ooarai Tank Team Commanders stood there in a line with their tanks behind them (which were all dolled up with accessories, excluding the Panzer IV, with much thanks to Rin and Yukari's stubbornness), St. Gloriana's tanks rolled up to them. there were 5 of them, in even amount to Ooarai's size. They were made up of 4 Infantry Tank Mk II's, better known as Matildas, armed with Ordnance QF 2-pounders with shells 40 in calibre. With 50-70 millimetres of armour in the front and back, as well as spaced armour on the side (and tracks) to protect the 40mm thick plating there, these tanks had decent armour all around. The weakest spot was of course the top of the vehicle, the top engine plating in the back being the weakest with 20 millimetres. Whilst being weak, the top proves hardest to hit, though their plan would still strive to accomplish this. The last tank in the Gloriana line up was the Churchill Mk IV Infantry Tank, with a QF-6 Pounder in a calibre of 57. With armour of 55-76 millimetres and additional spaced armour on the side, this tank was the toughest to kill, with only the StuG and the M3 having any chance to penetrate the vehicle, and that was only from the sides or back. Rin stared through a porthole in the Panzer IV to watch as the Tank commanders of each side exchanged a few words, then bowed. They then headed back to their tanks, mounted up, and moved to the starting positions.

All lied in wait, the tension slowly eating away at them, all waiting for the command to start the match. Hana's mouth glumly grimaced at the situation, but her eyes gleamed with fortitude, she was ready to fight with everything in the upcoming battle. Mako sat unperturbed by the heavy tension within the tank, her nebulous eyes languidly half-closed, threatening to shut within the next minutes if no action be taken. Though, if one were to gaze relentlessly into her eyes, one would start to believe there was a glint of tenacity within them. Miho sat, close-eyed, inside the Cupola, gathering her thoughts and confidence, eyebrows furrowed with conviction. Yukari, however, simply sat in her loaders' position, shell in hand, cocksure grin on her face, waiting for the command that starts the battle. Rin mentally applauded her smile, his very own grin on his face slowly spreading ear-to-ear. He was ready. This was his moment, the start of the greatest years of his life! Looking back happily with his spirits livened up to Miho, he spotted that her steadfast expression since he last saw her had degraded with a troubled and worried look, sweating bullets.
