Thinking back on it now, he probably should have recognised the red flags. The 'small insignificant' things that should have screamed at him to stop, get away. To just do something other than roll over and accept it, take it as simple flaws and not as flashing warning signs.

But when you're in love, when you're so blinded by the raw feelings of affection you seem to skim past the negatives, the bad days, the arguments. But in the end, it's really only yourself who is to blame, only you who is left broken and wounded when the true nature of those 'bad days' and those 'flaws' comes to slap you in the face.

Yoongi woke up like he did every other day, in the same room, surrounded by the same four walls and completely alone. His face itched behind the dampened fabric of his mask that clung to his lower face.

Today wasn't like the other however in one way, one way that made Yoongi sit up and wipe his eyes a little faster than normal, one that had him up and walking around his room a little more purposefully. One where he styled his hair and dressed a little nicer than usual.

Today was a good day, a good day for one reason. More specifically because of one person. Because of Ko Mu-yeol. His boyfriend.

They had been together for close for 8 months now and Yoongi was absolutely smitten. He looked forwards to the days when he got to see him. Mu-yeol was a few years older than he was, they had met when Yoongi's father had introduced him as his new tutor. He was the only person other than his father he was allowed to talk to. That should have probably been his first red flag.

Yoongi fell for him rather quickly when they first got together, the concept of affection was so foreign to him that anything the elder male would do from simply looking at him a little too long to the more possessive tendencies, would have Yoongi sinking deeper. Red flag number two. True affection wouldn't be something Yoongi would really experience until years later.

Yoongi's head flung towards the door when he heard the familiar sound of the door opening. A smile formed on his face, although obscured by the mask, at the sight of his boyfriend walking into the room. It was always the same. Yoongi would only see him once or twice a week depending on his schedule, and it would always be in the confines of his room.

He was told t was to keep him safe and away from the press, as well as to avoid outing themselves to his father. Stupidly Yoongi had believed him every time. Red flag number three.

The moment he sat down on the bed next to Yoongi his hands were already on his face removing the mask from his face, Yoongi still flinched every time nervously biting on his lip his mask was his safe place and having it taken away so quickly always made him feel small and vulnerable.
