Chapter two
It wasn't hard for Tessa to breeze through the hallways unnoticed. The students in PineCreek high seemed to be preoccupied with themselves and themselves alone which Tessa considered a good thing.
She managed to find her way to the principal's office. It was pretty easy since she'd been there before with Lydia. She'd been instructed to meet the principal once she arrived today to get her class schedule for the entire semester.
Tessa raised a fist to knock when the door suddenly sprang open. The girl standing before her was tall, much taller than she was and she was a solid 5ft 8. She was completely dressed in black from her tank top to her calve high boots. But that wasnt what caught Tessa's attention. It was her ridiculously red hair and glassy, emerald green eyes. The girl looked her up and down and frowned. "Get outta my way bitch." she said and shoved passed, nearly knocking Tessa to the ground.
Tessa regained her balance, glaring at the girl as she strutted down the hall. For a tall girl, she was incredibly graceful in her movement. That was something Tessa could never achieve. She was a clumsy mess most of the time. She suddenly found herself wishing the girl would trip on her heels or something. Anything to get her back. Strangely, the girl wobbled but managed to grab a passing student to stop herself from falling. Letting go of the student, she looked around suspiciously. The way you'd search for someone who'd pushed you in a crowd. Her eyes met Tessa's again and Tessa gasped. Instantly, she ducked into the principal 's office. Tessa wasn't sure why she'd panicked. It wasn't like she'd literally caused her to trip. That was just sweet coincident. Still, something about the look in the girl's eyes, made her heart jump.
"Ah, Teresa Ross, you're here." Principal Randall took off her glasses and smiled at Tessa. "Welcome. Please, sit down. You don't have to be nervous."
Tessa found her politeness amiable, just like the first time they'd met, but she wasn't planning on getting used to it. People were only nice to her for a little while. Eventually, they found her strange and rude.
She couldn't blame them though. She was terrible at making conversations and usually ended up being too blunt for their liking."Thanks." she mumbled and moved to one of the brown armchairs before her desk.
"Teresa, you're going to continue on the tenth grade. I've drawn up your class schedule, and just incase you get mixed up, i've asked Amy, a classmate of yours, to help you out."
"Umm, thanks." Tessa said, though she wasn't trilled that the principal didn't think she could get by on her own. Did she really look that helpless?
"No problem." Principal Randall picked up a sheet of paper and handed it to her. "Classes start in ten minutes. Eight o'clock on the dot. You best be on your way. Amy should be waiting outside to take you."
Tessa nodded. She got up, looking at her schedule as she headed out. She had English first. Not a bad subject. She opened the door and was greeted by a short, chubby figure wearing glasses way too big for her face.
"Hi, I'm Amy." The girl said, unclasping a hand from the binder she was hugging tightly to her chest like her life depended on it.
Tessa shook her hand reluctantly and said, "i'm Tessa.""Great to meet you." she smiled. "I like your shirt."
Tessa looked down at her shirt. It was an oversized Check shirt she'd thrown on over old jeans. Definitely not worth a complement. "Umm, okay." she said. "Thanks."
Amy nodded and turned down the hallway. "C'mon." she said. "The English teacher is even grumpier than my Dad when he hasn't had his frog leg soup." Tessa raised a brow wondering how anyone could get grumpy over frog legs. She shook the thought away and followed.
