Classes went by slowly today for Tessa. Maybe because she spent most of them staring at the clocks. More than ever she wanted the day to be over. So far her bright violet eyes had drawn a lot of attention and since everyone was officially up to speed with last night's event, it was hard to walk down a hallway without being stared at. But of course she was already used to the occasional snicker and snare from gossip driven teenagers; ignoring them came naturally. All that truly mattered to her was finding the girl from the woods. She needed answers and the only way she could get them was asking the redheaded. Something was definitely not normal about the woods. That much was obvious and she was going to figure out what.
Tessa thought back to her experience yesterday; to the moment the strange sensation washed over her. It had literally forced her to her knees and for some moments, it felt like pleasant sparks we're flowing through her veins leaving odd tingling sensations all over her body. And god she'd never seen the woods look so beautiful with vibrant greens and colors that---The sudden blare of the bell for lunch caused Tessa to flinch. She looked around dazed for a moment as the other students got up and rushed out of the classroom. She picked up her shoulder bag and did the same, making her way to the cafeteria. She had no classes with the redhead, what a bummer. But she did hope that she'd have better luck finding her at the cafeteria. The girl's got to eat, right?
Tessa scouted the cafeteria for about fifteen minutes before finally spotting the redheaded girl. She was sprawled on the lawn, her head resting on Luke's-of all people-lap. She was laughing at whatever it was he was saying. Tessa stared at them discretely from her table. It was a little weird watching the both of them. Luke was openly flirting with the redhead and she was responsive; tucking her hair behind her ear and even occasionally biting her lower lip sensually. For some reason Tessa was disappointed with her. She just felt she-anyone actually-could do better than Luke. With a sigh she stood up and made her way towards them and of course strings of eyes followed her all the way. It was annoying but she couldn't blame them. With her reputation and catchy eyes who wouldn't stare. None of that was important now though, all that mattered was getting to the button of pine creek woods. She had to talk to the wolf girl now.
"Sorry, excuse me." Tessa said, annoyed at how meek her voice came out. They both turned to her. Luke's eyes lit up instantly.
"Wolf chick!" He said beaming. "Wow, sick contacts. If you weren't officially the schools weirdo, I might actually wanna bang you."
What? Tessa grimaced. Could anyone be any more of a pig? she thought. The weird thing was the redhead didn't seem the least bit upset by his comment. She actually seemed amused. But why wouldn't she? She was tall, pretty and graceful. What did she need to be insecure about?
"What really happened to you?" Luke asked curiously. "Were you really chased by a wolf? Hard to believe since they're super rare in these parts. C'mon, be honest. It was another one of your stunts right?"
Tessa held his gaze for a while then sighed, shifting her gaze to the redhead. "Can I talk to you for a sec?" She went on, ignoring Luke who now took to leering at her, slowly looking her over like he was trying to figure out what she'd look like with no clothes on. It was very disturbing.
"I have nothing to say to you. Now beat it." The redhead said bluntly.
" It'll just take a sec, I swear. It's about yesterday. My eyes..." Suddenly Tessa found it impossible to mutter another word. She tried to speak again but no words came out.
"Are you okay?" Luke asked, staring at her with knitted brows. It was the most serious Tessa had seen him. "What about your eyes? They're contacts right?"
Tessa wanted to reply but she suddenly found it impossible to open her mouth. What the hell was going on?
"Look, I have nothing to say to you!" Said the redhead looking pissed and a little...worried? It was a brief expression that flashed over her face but Tessa caught it. "Get lost freak!" The redhead said harshly and just to get her message across, she pulled a curious looking Luke down into a kiss. At first he seemed reluctant but then he kissed her back, easing his arms around her, one venturing lower her waist to cup a cheek. Tessa got the message loud and clear, and walked away. A part of her, a really big part of her, wanted to punch the redhead in the face but alas, that wasn't possible-at least for now. She tried to speak again and was relieved to hear the sound of her voice. She felt her throat with her fingers, making different sounds to test out her voice. Yes, it was back but what had just happened over there? It was like every time she was around the redhead something weird happened. She turned to look at her again. Their kiss was over and now she lay on Luke's laps staring up at the sky. Luke on the other hand had his gaze fixed on her; hard, piercing and...calculating-like he was studying her. The way you'd study a map to plan the perfect strategy. Tessa turned back immediately feeling oddly invaded. Suddenly, she was met with something wet, minty and extremely cold; right in her face. She gasped, stepping back in shock.
