On instinct, Sylyn stood up and moved in front of Acelyn. The fox gracefully padded his way over to the two.
"Jerome! What are you doing here?" Sylyn growled.
Jerome snickered. "Relax, Sy, I'm not gonna lay a paw on your girl."
Sylyn! Who is this creep?!
An old friend. Don't worry, he won't hurt you.
That's not what I'm worried about! I'm worried about him hurting YOU!
That's not going to happen, trust me!
This time, it was Jerome who snarled. He began to circle around the two, whiskers glistening in the setting sun.
He stopped in front of Acelyn and reached his paw out.
Immediately Acelyn stepped backwards, and of of instinct, put her hands up to shield her face.
A low, throaty chuckle echoed across the once quiet forest. "Do you mind?" Acelyn questioned.
Let's go, Ace. Sylyn's voice was hollow.
Tell me who this fox is!
Later. Not here, not now.
Acelyn rolled her eyes. Waving it off with a hand, she began walking back toward the house. Sylyn quickly caught up with her.
Acelyn broke the silence. "So... About my mom...," she said.
"We should probably go ahead and tell her about... Uh, us." Thankfully, Sylyn's voice was back to normal.
"I suppose you right," Acelyn sighed quietly.
And when they reached the house, Acelyn's mom was on the front porch, tapping her foot, and when she spotted Acelyn and Sylyn, she frantically raised and waved her arms.
Taking a deep breath, Acelyn looked at Sylyn. "Let's do this."
