I Hate That I Love You

Chapter 6

I went to school the next morning, but I didn't see Cole. He is in my first and third period classes, but he wasn't in either of them today. I wondered where he was, but then again sometimes he skips school to go hangout or to leave with his friends to go do whatever they do.

Lunch time finally arrived, I sat at my usual lunch table with Izzy and Chloe.

"Have either of you guys seen Cole at all today?" I question them. I tried to seem like I didn't care much so they didn't suspect anything.

Chloe and Izzy both stopped eating and looked at each other. They had a sad concerned look on their faces, it made me worry. Who knows what those faces meant?! But it didn't look like it meant anything good.

They stayed silent for a few moments looking back and forth from me to each other.

"What?! What is it guys!? Tell me!" I started stressing out.

Izzy finally broke the stressful never ending silence.

"You didn't hear?" Izzy gives me a worried look.

I shook my head in response.

"Hear what?! What happened? Is it about Cole?! Guys TELL ME!? Please." At this point my mind was all over the place, I was freaking out.

"Erm, Cole....Well. I'm really sorry to tell you this, but umm... there was an accident. Cole was driving last night and he got hit by a drunk driver. He didn't make it, I'm so sorry Kay." Chloe and Izzy both look into at me, because at this point my eyes were tearing up and my heart sank.

No! No no no no no no! No! This can't be true! No!

I'm pretty sure my heart just sank to the bottom of the deepest ocean. I couldn't believe the words that just came out of Chloe's mouth. I didn't want to believe what she said.

"What!?- you're joking right?!" I just sat there and stared.

Both Izzy and Chloe burst out laughing. I was so confused, in a moment like this?

"Why are you guys lau- Oh my god, SERIOUSLY!? I hate you guys so much. You guys are so mean!" I laughed wiping my tears then softly punched Chloe in the arm.'

"Girl! I can't believe you BELIEVED us! Ha-ha. Nah kay, he's just sick, that's what Ryan told me.But wait, why do you wanna know? I thought you hated him and didn't care?" Izzy explained to me, then both Izzy and Chloe grinned and looked at me.

"Oh uh, nothing. No reason. Just- BECAUSE!" I couldn't help myself smiling, I started thinking about last night with him. And I definitely did have a reason, and he sure does not mean nothing to me, at least not anymore.

"Suuuuuure, right. Mhmm." Izzy folded her arms and gave me a sassy look.

I gave a big smile, Chloe noticed, and I guess she knew. She crossed he arms, rolled her eyes and leaned in toward me.

"Spill." both Izzy and Chloe said in sync. We all laughed, and I told them everything, I had to, it was just too amazing not to share with my best friends. This was tea worthy.

They were very engaged in the story, I swear Chloe never blinked once, and Izzy just sat there smiling the WHOLE time.

"AWEE! OH MY GAWSH KAY! EeeeeeEEk! That's So cute!!! I'm so happy for you Kayla!"

They both jumped around shrieking in excitement laughing and smiling. I could feel people in the cafeteria looking at us, but I didn't care. I was happy and so were my friends and we have something to celebrate about, so I dont give 2 s**ts about other peoples opinions.
