Chapter 9: Vicious Volcano - Magmora's Stage

Demon soon arrived back at the base, the group recovering from the attacks and receiving the weapon data.
"Heh...you actually seem to be doing pretty good, Demon." Said Tyrad.
"Duh." Said Demon, lounging on the bench.
"Velga." Said Tyrad, as Velga looked at the commander.
"The dragon lands are being pressured by a number of aerial mavericks all of a sudden. We know that you're built for hot climates, so we need you to defeat them before assessing the situation."
"I'll get to it." The heavy fighter responded.
"Who's the pilot?"
"Me." Said Demon. Velga then looked at the Commander in shock.
"Yes...apparently she aced the Magnawing simulation." Said Tyrad.
"Well? Hurry up, Velga! There's a band of dragons in the dragon lands that I have to lead after this." Said Demon, rushing to the launch deck. Velga sighed as he followed the feisty warrior.

A few minutes later, Velga was standing on top of the Magnawing, a vehicle similar to the Magnabike that could fly at high speeds and that he could attach his boots to as Demon piloted the vehicle through the sky.
"Hey! The mavericks are just ahead!" Velga turned his head to the side as he spotted Rainbow Dash following him in the air with Spike.
"Nice timing, you two! Yeah, we've got bogeys inbound! These enemies are called Sky Gunners because they fire missiles from the air at their opponents. The soldiers are called Jettron Soldiers and fire bullets in three directions!" Velga warned.
"Kind of like a corpse I know." Said Demon as Velga facepalmed. The sky enemies then began firing as Velga began launching his Hadouken at the enemies while Demon shot them in the sky. Rainbow Dash began blitzing and brawling with the mavericks and Spike began blasting them with fire.
"Uh...how many of these are there?!" Said Spike, taking down his third maverick.
"About a hundred. That's why I'm going to kill them super fast!" Yelled Demon, blasting down more mavericks by the second as Velga uppercutted a Sky Cannon and sent it hurtling down to the ground.
"She says a hundred or less." He confessed to his teammates.
"What?!" Rainbow and Spike both responded.
"Don't worry. They shouldn't be too hard to kill." Velga told them, grabbing a Jettron and tossing it into another, causing them both to explode as Rainbow began showing off her martial arts on the many mavericks and Spike took a rest on Velga's back.
"I can't aim at these guys..." Said Spike.
"Hmm...Capper did tell me about something that might help." Said Velga, grabbing Spike and aiming him like a gun at the mavericks, blowing most of them up with Spike's fireballs before he let him go.
"See? Solved!" Said Velga.
"Seriously? Again?" Said Spike. The group then realized as Rainbow Dash hammered a Jettron downwards that they had cleared out most of the enemies already and that the rest were retreating.
"Yeah! We showed those dummies!" Yelled Spike, as the group took a moment to celebrate.
"Hey! We aren't through yet!" Said Demon, as a small battleship materialized from Cyberspace and began charging up a laser cannon.
"Wait...is that the..." Spike started.
"That's a smaller version of Virenne's mothership! It's aiming for us!" Shouted Velga, right before the laser cannon fired and Rainbow Dash narrowly avoided it with the rest of the group.
"Get in close and stop it! My bullets don't damage this flying piece of junk!" Said Demon, trying to shoot it. The laser cannon then blasted again as Demon dodged the blast aimed at her and Velga began firing the Hadouken at the red core on its front.
"The core is the weak point! Aim at that!" Commanded Velga, as Rainbow Dash began blitzing it and Spike began blasting fire at it.
"Demon! Get me close!" Demon then swerved past the lasers coming at them as Rainbow and Spike kept damaging the core until Velga got in close to the battleship as it began to charge up another laser. But Velga quickly jumped in the air as Demon dove down and Velga slammed right on the core with both of his fists, heavily damaging the miniature replica and sending it plummeting towards the ground as he landed back on the Magnawing.
"That's all of them!" Said Velga, as the group celebrated. But suddenly, a blast of fire went right through Rainbow's wing, causing her to scream as she plummeted towards the ground.
"Rainbow!" Said Velga, as Spike quickly flew towards him and Velga looked down to make out a figure in a black cape standing on top of the mountain holding out a buster.
"Who's that?" Said Demon. But another blast of fire suddenly struck the Magnawing and sent it plummeting towards the ground as well before the figure teleported away.
"The Magnawing is dead! Let's go!" Said Demon, breaking the glass with a couple shots before jumping out with Velga.
"They're falling!" Said Princess Ember, examining the fallen carnage from the air battle. She then quickly caught sight of Rainbow Dash falling and caught her in midair before spotting the other falling mavericks. Velga took action by shooting his Hadouken at the lava below before diving into it and jumping out of the mildly deep pit before taking too much damage and Demon blasted her Tactical Rocket Bomber downwards, riding on the rocket and jumping off before it exploded on the ground, while Spike simply flew down.
"Princess! Is Rainbow okay?" Said Velga. But when he saw Rainbow's condition, her wing had been partially burned off with some of the fur covering it.
"Demon, get Rainbow to Mateo. He can help her." Said Velga, seeing Demon conversing with Garble and his gang.
"Y-you were the female dragon?!" He responded.
"Of course. And the girl that just showed that fleet the way out." Said Demon.
"Spike. Come with me while I take Rainbow to Mateo."
"Okay! Coming!" He said, following her.
"Well, well, well. Guess who it is!" Said Garble, looking at Spike.
"H-hey, Garble." Said Spike, as Garble approached him.
"*Ahem.*" Said Velga, as Garble turned to Velga and recognized him as well.
"You know, I could take out both sets of your teeth right now." Said Demon.
"I'll pass..." Said Garble, backing up with the rest of his gang before Demon teleported away with Spike and Rainbow.
"Ember. Have you seen a maverick known as Magmora or Magburn Orecrush here?" He said to her.
"He's inside the volcano...but he did mention something about rigging it with pipes." She responded.
"He's planning to control the magma flow!" Said Velga, before rushing towards the volcano.
"Velga, wait!" Velga then came across Smolder, the dragon from the School of Friendship.
"My brother's in there! He just came back to the Dragon Lands!" She said.
"Then follow me." Said Velga, as the two rushed towards the maverick guarded volcano. Velga noticed revamped Scaldertron Soldiers standing on the volcano surface with volcano enemies known as Lava Snakeys coming out of the cracks. A number of Jettrons were still in the sky.
"Fire does barely anything when it comes to damaging these guys. Get behind me." Said Velga, as the Scaldertrons and Lava Snakeys began coming at him. Velga then began easily destroying the soldiers with his fists and dodging the blasts of fire from the Lava Snakeys as he stomped on them while shooting his Hadouken at the Jettrons.
"Wow...You're just as strong as Ragammia!" Said Smolder.
"Of course. You weren't paying attention to me during the Enertron War?" Said Velga, punching the last of the enemies in his way before coming to the mouth of the volcano.
"Smolder." He said, as the young dragoness turned to him.
"Yes?"
"I need your help. Can you help me break my fall?" Said Velga.
"What?! How?!" Said Smolder.
"I know I may be too heavy for you to get me to high places, but can you fly me down there?" Said Velga.
"I'll try..." Said Smolder, flying above the volcano before Velga jumped down and grabbed her arms. But Smolder completely regretted her decision, as she had not assumed that Velga would be so heavy while she began to fall into the volcano.
"Smolder! There's a platform there!" Said Velga, as Smolder bgan flapping with all her might as Velga fell safely to the ground. She then began gasping for air as she collapsed from exhaustion.
"Magmora! Show yourself and remove the pipes you've been implanting into the volcano!" Said Velga.
"Smolder? What are you doing here?" Said a red, male dragon that looked similar to her.
"Magma?" Said Smolder, recovering from her exhaustion and looking at her brother.
"Magma! I'm so glad to see you!" Said Smolder. But as she approached him, Velga cut him off.
"Hold on. Something's not right." He said.
"Hmm? What's wrong? You're one of those maverick investigators." Said Magma.
"I am. What could someone like you be doing here?" Said Velga.
"Smolder..." Said Magma.
"Remember when I was kicked out of the family with my brother after my molt?"
"Yes...that really upset me." Said Smolder.
"Well...I grew very bitter after that. So I came across a certain figure who volunteered to give me upgrades and change the direction our world was heading. Then I came back here." Responded Magma.
"Upgrades? What do you mean?" Said Smolder. Velga clenched his fists in rage.
"I don't believe it! Are you that stupid?!" He yelled.
"Wh-what are you saying?" Asked Smolder. Magma suddenly smiled before his body changed to that of a human Enertron with armor similar to Demon.
"My new name is Magburn Orecrush. I received this new form from King Dorakaru in order for me to occupy this area and show you that I'm worthy of our family!" Said Magmora. Smolder was devastated by Magmora's transformation while Velga was glaring at him with rage.
"Don't worry, sister. I'll only kill the investigator near you. It's part of the new world we plan to build. It will be perfect for us!"
"No!" Shouted Smolder, tears starting to stream down her face. Magmora was confused by this.
"My family had no right to kick you two out...but you've gone off the deep end! You could've done anything else...but instead you made the worst decision of your life!" Yelled Smolder.
"Are you criticizing my beliefs of our utopia?" Said Magmora.
"Yes! This is no utopia, this is just some stupid goal! I can't even believe you're my brother right now!" Said Smolder.
"I agree. You'll have to choose between her or yourself." Said Velga, guarding Smolder. Magmora pondered his decision before looking at Smolder.
"Stupid goal, huh? How dare you mock King Dorakaru's dream! I guess I'm only fighting for myself now!" Said Magmora, grabbing Smolder by the arm and flinging her off the platform and into the lava of the volcano.
"HOW DO YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO DO THAT?!" Shouted Velga, swinging a punch at Magmora and massing before Magmora retaliated with a bunch of fireballs from his buster. Velga quickly sidestepped to dodge them before knocking him backwards with his Hadouken.
"I haven't met anyone so far as strong as you! But I can't have you standing in my way!" Said Magmora, surrounding himself in fire and dashing towards Velga, knocking him backwards near the edge of the platform.
"You'll pay for all of this! Smolder, Rainbow, all of it!" Yelled Velga, dashing at him and trying to land a punch on him.
"Oh, that wasn't me that blasted that hotshot out of the sky. King Dorakaru would never order that." Said Magmora, as Velga knocked him into the air with an upper.
"I don't care if that was you!" He yelled, thrusting his fist forward as Magmora fell with the Bakudan, using the explosion from his fist to knock him into the wall of the volcano. Velga then wasted no time in dashing off the edge and slamming him while he was on the wall with the Bakudan again, creating a crack on the wall before Magmora fell into the volcano.
"Velga! Where's Magma...I mean, Magmora?" Said Smolder.
"Still alive." Said Velga, as Magmora suddenly leapt out of the lava with an orange aura surrounding him and he broke the platform and the lava began flowing upwards.
"The lava's rising!" Yelled Smolder, flying up to escape the conflict.
"Get down here!" Yelled Magmora. But Velga quickly jumped onto the part of the platform he was on and launched him to the lava with another hit of the Bakudan. But after Magmora jumped out of the lava, a bunch of eruptions in the rising lava began to occur and destroy some of the platforms, causing Velga to jump to the other parts of the platform as Magmora began charging up an attack from his buster, Velga quickly jumping to dodge it as the attack broke the platform he was standing on. However, Velga was quickly caught by Smolder, who was actually managing to hold him due to her high levels of adrenaline.
"Quickly, swing me!" Shouted Velga, as Smolder did so and Velga launched Magmora into the air from landing on the small platform. Velga then charged up his fist and threw it forward once Magmora was landing, punching a hole straight through his body before the maverick screamed and exploded into a bunch of orange orbs. Velga and Smolder then realized that the magma flow had stopped.
"He's done." Said Velga.
"Smolder...I'm sorry." Smolder was shedding as many tears as before.
"He...he betrayed us. All of us. He deserved that." Said Smolder. Velga hen looked back at her once more before grabbing Magmora's weapon data.
"Excellent job, Velga. The weapon data here gives you the Enbarasshu, a technique that allows you to dash straight forward engulfed in flames into your enemies. Rainbow is doing fine, and I believe we'll have her back out in a couple of hours." Said Mateo.
"I await your return back at the base."
"Rainbow will be okay." Said Velga.
"Please take care, Smolder." Velga then teleported out of the area as Smolder flew out of the volcano. But suddenly, the same cloaked figure from before was standing in front of her as she got out.
"Hello, Smolder." The figure said.
"Do you remember me?" Smolder then gasped.
"Y-you! How did you..." But was given no time to finish her sentence as the enemy knocked her out cold and teleported away with her. Only a certain red dragon that had managed to escape from Demon saw what had happened and flew back with a traumatized expression on his face.
