Chapter 12: Crystal Chaos - Elite Maverick Stage

Occelus was visiting the Crystal Empire, since she had wanted to see how glorious the place had been described and was currently touring the area with one of Counsellor Starlight's friends, Sunburst.
"I've heard about you! Starlight wrote to me about how you were one of the students that stopped one of the children at the School of Friendship." Sunburst Said.
"Why are you here?"
"On vacation. I need a break from my classes. I need to clear my head so I can be able to do any tests I have when I come back." Responded Occelus.
"That's good! I bet Starlight is proud of you for doing that!" Said Sunburst.
"I bet so too..." Said Occelus.
"Hey! I asked to see the Princess!" A voice rang out from one of the corridors.
"Candace...er, the Princess doesn't want to be disturbed at the moment." Responded the captain of the royal guards, Shining Armor, escorting a Changeling away from the throne room. Occelus immediately recognized the face and their eyes met before they began speaking.
"Maxilla."
"Hey, Occelus..." He shakily Responded. But Occelus began speed-trotting away from the guard and Maxilla.
"Occelus, wait!" He Yelled, as Shining Armor let him go.
"I don't want to hear it, Max!" Said Occelus.
"Look, I'm sorry for getting so aggressive! I didn't want you to leave like this!" He Yelled.
"Go away!" Said Occelus.
"Stop! What's going on between you two?!" Said Sunburst, blocking off Occelus. The Changeling sighed.
"Maxilla got upset at me after he realized I was cheating on him. He hurt me in the process, but only a little." Said Occelus.
"I'm trying to apologize for that and for being a terrible friend in the past! Why won't you forgive me?" Said Maxilla.
"No! I just can't! I've been a terrible friend! I don't deserve your friendship!" Said Occelus. Sunburst then set his hoof on Occelus as she hung her head low.
"You know...Counselor Starlight felt the same way once." Said Sunburst.
"How?" Responded Occelus.
"She...she actually tried to take over the world once." Said Sunburst. The two Changelings then stared back up at him.
"She was stopped by Twilight...and that was when she was taken in by Twilight as an apprentice." Said Sunburst.
"She didn't think she deserved Twilight's friendship, but Twilight still wanted hers and now the two are great friends!"
"Counselor Starlight was evil?" Said Occelus.
"C'mon, Occelus! I still want your friendship! I promise that I'll never be this aggressive again!" Pleaded Maxilla. Occelus looked into his eyes and saw that Maxilla meant what he was saying. He only wanted her friendship again, and he'd probably keep trying to do it.
"Okay. I forgive you, Maxy." Said Occelus, using the nickname she called him in the past, as the two hugged each other in embrace, Sunburst smiling.
"So that's what sharing love is like. Disgusting." Said Shining Armor, approaching the group with a number of guards.
"Huh? Why would you say that?" Said Maxilla.
"Oh, you never suspected, did you?" He Said, grinning as green fire surrounded him and revealed a sinister queen of the Changelings.
"Chrysalis!" Said Sunburst, as Occelus began to shiver and Maxilla glared at her. The other guards then revealed themselves to be Changeling underlings as well.
"What are you doing here, you beast?!" Said Maxilla.
"Oh, brave for a traitor! I simply came to get revenge on Candace for everything that has happened! You three, on the other hand, won't be able to escape." Said Chrysalis, as the Changelings surrounded them.
"Occelus, Maxilla, get back! I'll hold them off!" Said Sunburst, as he began firing blasts of magic at the Changelings. But unexpectedly, the magic simply bounced off of them as they only grew angrier and closed in faster.
"What do we do?!" Said Occelus, trying to think of something. Maxilla looked at his two friends trying to defend him and knew that he had to step up before things got worse. Another part of him told him not to do so because of what Commander Yoshone had said.
You can't risk Mavericks or anycreature getting ahold of your identity.
As Maxilla thought about these words, he also knew that his friends were more important than his identity. A bright light suddenly surrounded Maxilla until he resembled a human-like Enertron.
"Get away from my friends!" He Yelled, using his buster to easily blast the Changelings backwards. One of the Changelings tried to jump on him, but he quickly threw it into the wall. After holding off the enemies, Chrysalis, Occelus, and Sunburst were all awed by his performance.
"Wh-wh-WHAT?!" She Yelled, as Maxilla pointed his buster at her.
"Give up, Chrysalis. You'll never win." He Said.
"M-Maxilla?! What happened to you?!" Said Occelus. But suddenly, the noise of hoofsteps echoed down the hallway until Princess Candace revealed herself to be making the noise.
"Princess Candace! Thank goodness you're..." But the Princess suddenly fired a speeding, blue laser that went right into Maxilla's head, causing the rookie hunter to collapse, unconscious.
"P-Princess?!" Occelus shuddered, clinging onto Sunburst who was unresponsive thanks to the current events.
"Imprison him. He's a maverick investigator." Said Candace, as Chrysalis recovered from her shock and Candace held the two heroes in place with her magic, their struggling futile as the other Changelings recovered and approached them.
"Candace...what are you doing?!" Said Sunburst.
"Candace?" Responded the "Princess."
"I must be that good. You don't even know who I really am!"
