Emily Glimore's POV

10 days. It's been 10 days since I have signed the papers. I am now officially a free woman. I have made the right decision. I mean Richard was spending time with his ex-wife without telling me! Surely this divorce is justified. Right? Right! Now Emily remember who you are. I am Emily Glimore and I shall not mourn over a-a cheater!

Yes. How dare Richard priorities his work over me. And on top of that, meet with his ex-wife. Yes. I shall not mourn over Richard...

I can't. I can't just forget about all the good times we had. All those years cannot just disappear within a few days. I...I miss him...but I cannot trust him again.

3rd Person POV:

Rory had just ended school. After the tear-jerker afternoon a few days ago when she had found out about Emily and Richard divorce. She couldn't help but feel like she has to do something. Seeing her grandmother so devastated and not her usual confident self...'No.' Rory thought. She will not allow her grandmother to feel upset any longer. Rory's lips quirked up the smallest amount as she changed her route to her grandmother's house, but not without a little detour.

Soon after, Rory reached the hotel her grandmother is residing in. She reached the room where Emily was staying and tentatively raised her hand to knock.

After two sharp raps, a sharp yet nasally voice belonging to Emily could be heard shouting, ''Who is it!?''

"It's me Rory! Can I come in?"
"Doors' unlocked."

Rory opened the door and was greeted with the rare sight of a messy haired, wrinkled clothing Emily Glimore.

"Ever heard of a door bell?"

Rory cracked a small smile, glad that not all of her grandmother's sass was gone.
Rory held up a white plastic bag. "I come bearing gifts."

"Is it a ruby ring?"
"Uh...n-no it's actually something you told me you had wanted to do once when you were my age."

Emily raised an eyebrow and questioned, "Well? What is it?"
"It's hair dye. Well more specifically black hair dye."

Emily held a face of confusion and inquired,"Do you have an all expense-paid salon in that bag or what?"

Rory let a small giggle slip out before replying, " No it's a store bought hair dye. I was wondering if...you know you wanted to do it...you know as a way to I guess start over?"

"Start over? In what way would I start over. Besides, you expect me to dye my hair without a professional stylist?"

Rory smiled as she set the bag down and begin taking out the boxed dye. "No grandmother, a lot of people would usually do something a bit... dramatic with their appearance after something upsetting. Plus, you told me before that when you were my age, you told me that you had always wanted to dye your hair black since you thought it would look nice but you didn't go through with it because Ri-...um I mean others prefer your brown hair."

Emily noticing Rory reluctant to say Richards name, "You can say his name. It's not as if I am made of glass. I can handle hearing his...his name", Emily finished in a shaky voice, "Besides, I do not need to reinvent myself. I am perfectly fine and in no need of some drastic change."

Rory noticed the shakiness in Emily's voice regarding Richard but chose to remain quiet about it. Instead, she began to start setting up the hair dye. "Come on, at least indulge in your past fantasy! Besides! I will also be dying my hair too! Well, maybe not all of it but at least a streak so that way it won't be only you making a change in your appearance!"

Emily sighed and soon sat on the chair Rory had pushed to face the mirror set up. "Fine. But I am only doing this because of my past  wants. Not because of the...the divorce. Also, if you were to mess this up, you will be the one to pay for that professional salon fee is that clear?"

Rory sighed in relief at finally getting Emily to agree. "Yes ma'am, I promise I will do my absolute best." Rory ended her little speech with a mock salute.

Soon enough the black hair dye was in Emily's hair and finally placed into the hair net.

Rory smiled in satisfaction at her hard work and begin to start the timer to leave the hair dye in.

Her smile quickly faded the moment she heard a small sniffle coming from Emily.
" Ar-are you alright? I-...um,I didn't get the hair dye in your eye right?" Rory said in a concerned tone.

Emily rubbed the tears forming off, "No dear, it's just...All this talk about me wanting to dye my hair when I was younger, it brought back some memories... memories including Richard. I-I kept telling myself that I don't need him but the truth is...I miss him. I miss our little squabbles that always ends in laughter, our time back in college and...sigh...I just. I just miss him. So so much."

Rory couldn't think of anything to say so instead of using verbal comfort, she decided to go for physical comfort. She wrapped her arms around Emily from behind the chair. Emily froze for a few moments before eventually reaching her hand up to pat the arms surrounding her.

Soon enough Emily couldn't hold her tears back anymore and just let's it loose. Rory hugged Emily tighter as Emily's sobs slowly grew louder.

Soon enough the sobs slowly subsided into small sniffles here and there.

"I am sorry that you had to see me in such a vulnerable state Rory. But I will admit, I do feel a bit better."

Rory grinned and was just about to respond when BUZZ BUZZ.

The timer for the hair dye went off. Rory turned if off and as she slowly removed the hair net, Rory softly said " I'm glad that you got that off your chest. And for what it's worth, I am glad that at least you were honest with yourself. Now, are you ready see Emily 2.0?" No sooner had Rory finished her words did Emily's hair came down in black waves.

Both Rory and Emily both gave a gasped of surprise at how different Emily looked with black hair.

"Well, it looks like you won't have to pay for that professional salon fee after all."

Rory tried to stiffle the small giggle coming out of her but soon enough she failed and started laughing out loud. Emily gave a fond smile before giving her own chuckles.

And in that luxurious hotel room, a warmth could be felt between the grandchildren and grandmother that chased out the cold that was originally surrounding the latter in waves.

"Now, what was that about you agreeing to do a black streak in your hair as well?"

"Darn it, I had hoped you forgot about that."
