Chapter 3

My day consisted of me being in the library trying to steer clear of anyone as I wasn't in the mood for a conversation.

Pacing around the endless lines of old texts and tripping over a few here and there, eventually finding the one section I can count on, throwing books after books my eyes landed on one 'The Winds Past'. I skimmed through my page after page seeing if it's worthy of my time. "AHHHHH" my heart jumped out of my chest and the book went soaring like a bird my breathing turned rapid as I quickly punched my 'attacker' "DEVEN" I calm myself down only to see my scarer was Jaxi "JAXI YOU GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK"

"I DIDN'T KNOW YOU READ" Jaxi argued back, "Bitc-" my words getting cut off by my meemaw, Tori "Jaxi! Did you find him-DEVEN! Get your butt downstairs right now >:(" right.. I'm to be wed to someone I didn't know existed. "I'll be right down". They both ventured off leaving me in silence once again. I slowly walked there, the hallways were seemingly longer and much taller causing dread to flow around me.

Desi joined my sorrowful walk to the grand hall at some point trying to cheer me up but their efforts were nothing but dust. Upon reaching our destination I peered at the king and for someone with such status he was for sure in fear when Mum introduced herself being oblivious to his current state, stopping for a moment I took a deep breath and trudged towards my parents while Desi followed my every step, their glare towards Edward going unnoticed by me. "Prince Deven! it's so wonderful to finally meet you" The king spoke with such coldness I could only muster up the same glare Nini seemed to be doing towards him as well.

Nini leaned down to me and whispered "They look straighter than a pole" causing the mood to slightly change "They so do" we continued making fun of them well trying to stifle our laughter. Mum cleared her throat interrupting us "Welcome Edward. and you are?" while Edward grumbled about her not saying king she pointed towards the man beside him causing all the guards standing idle to stare at the supposedly unwelcome stranger.

The male in question while wearing a smudge smirk holding false pride he also talked like he owned the place "I am Prince Kayak" his expression faltered as laughs and giggles erupted causing him to shriek back in shame behind his father even though he was taller. The king was angered with our actions and his voice fell with regret "How about the boys
hang out for a bit. While we will discuss some things with your Majestys?" .

"Edward, I have questions..." my parents began whispering to each other causing Edward confusion. I didn't stay long enough as I had a nuisance now following my every movement. It was like I couldn't breathe by myself. Desi kept brushing against me as if I would disappear if I was left alone with Kayak. I ignored his questions and words and just chatted away with Desi even if the non existent space between made it a tad bit awkward.

The quest chambers luckily are on the other side of the castle ,meaning I shouldn't see any disturbance from him until morning. I finally spoke to him for the first time "If you have any needs the maids are around" I didn't bother moving myself towards him but only my eyes trying my best to hint I had no feelings towards him. I pulled Desi as I left in a hurry not needing to hear a response from the man.

Still holding their hand we made it to the kitchen where I tried my best to cool down but also seeing my parents eating as they skipped dinner for reasons I don't know, we quickly ran to the pantry not wanting to be found alone. After our epic summersults and crawling we locked the door while giggling non stop, I looked around seeing as I've never been in here , before I knew I was pushed up against the wall my hands held above me the culprit being Desi whose lips were almost touching mine.

"Let's run away from the marriage" their words and actions almost had me with a nosebleed. "I.. don't know" I sighed the frustration of leaving my family behind but being far away from the wedding sounds so pleasing. "No one's gonna notice" Desi spoke with such confidence that my heart skipped a beat, opening the door slightly I peered at my parents looking for any reason to stay but finding none "I know you just didn't sip MY juice" both being seen stealing the others food "Hehe" I sighed and agreed with Desi. "Front Gates at Dawn" was his final words of the night

The night was over before I knew it and the sun was just rising up making it my time to leave. The dreadful feeling of leaving everything I've known behind creeps up, second thoughts of this flood in making my eyes water, but I pushed forward and began my last descent down the main stairs. "So this is it" my voice held sadness as I looked behind me "Maybe next Christmas" Desi said trying to joke "Let's just go", "Go on these deez nuts- sorry force of habit" my eyes rolled at their words and I ended up pushing them across the town.

The rain poured non stop causing mud to to cover any surface in sight, the day was already setting and I was beyond exhausted as the only time we've stopped was for food and water. 4 towns we've gone by but yet still not far enough from the place I once called home. "Desi I-I can't walk an-ny more" my voice strained from exhaustion and nearly passed out. They sighed in defeat "Want me to carry you?" Desi leaned over as If offering a piggy back ride which I of course took, my feet no longer had the burden of walking as I rested along their back and closed my eyes.

The silence was filled with slight snores letting Desi hum in content of no longer hearing Deven's complaints. The walk didn't last long as the next town over was close by, venturing into the depths of it trying to find a place to sleep for the night, Desi came across an inn and trudged right in. "A room for one" figuring it would be less costly the owner nodded and handed the silver key to Desi. The room only held a bed ,along with a rug ,and a small bathroom to the side. Deven being placed under the covers I slept on top of them, the night sky shined through the window letting the moonlight cover them, leaning in as if to kiss only to draw back as the moment wasn't right. "Goodnight Deven" the words are nothing but a whisper against the wind.

Butterflies filled her stomach as she stared at the seemingly large doors, just thinking about confronting her spouse scared her to death. A dreadful ringing was replaced by a creek of the door as her eyes slowly glanced at her beloved, "Mal Dear... how should i put this" Mal glanced up from their book listening for their Wife's needs or wants. "Deven is missing along with Desi" a sheepish grin crosses her face as Mal processes the words "Cleo.. HOW DID YOU LOSE OUR KID? ONE JOB"
