She was the most marvelous women he had ever met or seen. Timothy made his way down the streets almost galloping his way back home. Work wasn't an issue as it was a little past 9pm he thought. Time was more of a subjective thing in Wrenchting. When the sun began to rise for the first time they decided it was 7am. Of course there was no real way of knowing but without the idea of a schedule many would become uncomfortable.
Timothy entered into a small apartment full of drunks and junkies surrounding the floor around him. They gave him weird glances as he passed. A man Timothy knew came up to him with a bottle in hand.
"Timothy! Old friend." The man said, his words slurred with his body swaying from side to side.
"Good evening Glenn." Timothy greeted.
"Timothy where were you?" Glenn said in a disgruntled voice.
"I was at work...why?"
"Oh Timothy. Did you forget?" Glenn began to become aggressive.Timothy suddenly remembered the money he had owed Glenn for the makeshift pipe bomb he had sold to another friend of his. Glenn was part of a small circle of criminals that smuggled makeshift weapons and sold them back to the public. They were the biggest reason for the massive crime rate of the city.
"Oh fuck i completely forgot." Timothy said in realization. Timothy's friend Ryan who he had sold it too claimed he would pay Timothy back later that night.
"So you don't have my money?" Glenn said. Timothy began to feel threatened and began to back away.
"You realize what my boss is going to think of this.... I don't want to hurt you Tim but you have two hours. I'm saying this because i fear for your safety as much as what there gonna do to me!"
Without another word Timothy took his chance and made a run for Ryan's flat.Ryan's flat was to the east side of the city where the majority of the richer of the population lived. If there was a way to describe Ryan's living conditions they were below rich but higher than middle class.
Entering into the mainly empty street Timothy took a turn into an alleyway that connected a collection of homes that were on both sides and reached only a few meters farther.
Timothy knocked on the door three times. The door creaked open slowly and Ryan's servant stared at Timothy.
"Master Ryan has been expecting you." Despite how polite it sounded the Servant sounded like he was in pain and his words didn't come out correctly.
Timothy entered into the homestead and looked around as Ryan was sitting on a ripped sofa. In front of him was a illuminated lantern that took the place of what would be a rich man in front of a Fireplace possibly petting a black cat. Ryan leaned his head over.
"Oh! you startled me. Sit down Timothy."
Timothy walked further into the home hearing the door shut behind him.
"Come! Sit down!"
Timothy approached the couch and cautiously sat down.
"Your always so paranoid! If i was going to kill you i would have done it."
Timothy began to relax himself as he took in more of the surroundings. Small pictures of cats and old Generals of wars Ryan knew nothing about."Well I assume your here for the screws regarding the explosive device?"
"Yes." Timothy said quickly.
"Well i'm afraid i don't have that kind of money on me."
"Your kidding! Why didn't you just buy it straight off of one of Sorelli's guys!?" Timothy suddenly snapped.
"Don't say their name! One of there goons could hear you."
"You sent me to do your dirty work so i would take the fall!" Timothy shouted.
"No of course not. Timothy calm yourself and sit down."
Timothy looked down and realized he had stood up and retreated back down onto his seat.
"They are going to kill me if i don't get this money Ryan." Timothy said looking for any empathy in Ryan's lifeless eyes.
Ryan leaned back into the couch he was sitting on and pondered his options and sighed.
"I don't buy directly from them because they don't like doing business with the rich, thinks we have connections with Lenard or something."
"Asides...I offered double of what your payed. four hundred screws more." Ryan said.
"Fuck you." Timothy said.
"Being rude isn't going to get either of us out of this."
"Us? You completely screwed me over. If i tell them i sold something to you i'm dead and your dead. If i say nothing i die. Or you could just kill me now." Timothy said.
"Shit we are both screwed." Timothy said.
"Asides. They would come for me if i killed you." Ryan said.
"Nothing we can do? At all?" Timothy said.
"Well... I may have something." Ryan said cautiously as if he had a secret.
Ryan stood up and signaled with hand for Timothy to follow.
Past the kitchen and into an extremely small bedroom Ryan slumped down and opened a safe that was under the bed. Ryan pulled out a flawless gun. After a better look it was a snub nose revolver that was shiny and clearly cleaned often. It was so shiny Timothy could see his reflection when looking at it closely. It wasn't rare for a gun to be cleaned but it was in pristine condition.
Ryan turned and handed the gun to Timothy.
"Say you have an offering for Sorelli and if it doesn't work......It was nice knowing you." Ryan patted Timothy's shoulder and rushed him out of the house.
"Wait. Why don't i just return the pipe bomb?" Timothy said.
"Oh it's long gone by now friend. I gave it to one of my mates for a birthday gift." Ryan said.
Ryan shut the door without another word and now Timothy was once again on his own.
