Amy: DAD!!
Amy rushed in the door and was greeted with an enormous hug.
Ralph: HEY kiddo!
How was school, eh Toby?
Toby: Same as everyday.
Ralph: Huh, I see.
Toby: Amy on the other hand taught something new.
Ralph: To the kids?
Amy: HAHA yeah! I told them our favorite tale!
Ralph: Ahhh, little red. Your mother sure loved that classic.
Amy: Yah, sadly though, I wasn't able to finish. But I told them that I'll be able to finish it tomorrow.
Ralph: I'm glad you did! Anyway, guess what kind of take-home food I brought home this time?
Toby: Ughhhhhhhhh, take-home again?!? When are we going to have the chance to eat real food? Hmph, I bet I already know what it is...
Amy: Do I know it?
Ralph: OF COURSE you do!
Amy: Does it start with a "C" and end with an "N"?
Ralph: Hmmmm
Amy: IS IT! IS IT! IS IT!?
Toby: It's chicken...
Amy: KILLJOY!!!! You're just jealous!
Toby: Oh, whatever...
After saying grace, the topic shifted entirely.
Amy: So dad, what happened at work today?
Toby: Any news?
Ralph: I'm glad you both asked. We have a new case. You see, people are missing. The bumbers are going up every week. Most of the disappearances happening here, in Phoenix.
Toby: Do you have any suspects?
Ralph: We're calling them in tomorrow. We just pray and hope that we can catch the perpetrator before he will strike again.
Amy: What- if-he's st-ill out- there?
Toby: Nahhhh don't worry little sis, I won't let ANYONE harm a single hair on you! Ha, I wanna see them try!
Ralph: HAHAHA that's my boy!
All of a sudden, the phone rings. Ralph, a little hesitant, picks it up.
Ralph: Hello? Ahhh... Alright. NO. I'm with my fami- OK. OK. Slow-down Mike. "sigh" Ok. I'll be on my way. Sorry kids, but I have to go. Duty calls. They need me urgently. The guys said someone's body's been found two miles North from here. Surprisingly, off-road...
Amy: Please be careful Dad.
Ralph: Ha, I will kiddo.
Toby: Stay safe Ralph. See you later.
Ralph: Will do Toby. I love you both.
Ralph shuts the door behind him and quickly gets into his car. He rides off into the distance with the sound of the siren trailing behind him.
Amy: What do you think happened?
Toby: I'm not so sure. But whatever it is, I'm pretty sure Dad can handle it. He's a brave man after all.
Amy: Yes... yes he is.
