Nayeon swears she tried not to be late. Despite several reminders from Mina, here is Nayeon, having the time of her life walking to the meeting room, 14 minutes late.
Once she enters, all eyes are on her. She didn’t mind, it wasn’t a new thing, getting stared at.
Everyone appears mortified and irritated though.Standing at the end of the meeting room is Mina in her white suit and high ponytail, with nothing but death written on her face, and a timer on her hand.
“Hi everyone, I’m Nayeon. Sorry I’m late.” Nayeon says as she tries to grab the nearest chair.
Mina starts pacing towards Nayeon. The sound of her heels resonates within the room. It was so
quiet one could hear a pin drop. But in this instance, all they can hear is Mina’s heels, and probably the beating of their own hearts. They were terrified of the team leader. There were about nine to ten people in the meeting, and not even one of them can move. It felt like Mina was sucking the soul out of every employee she walks past.“Ms. Im, what time is the meeting?” Mina quizzes Nayeon sternly.
“9AM.” Nayeon replies, not sensing she’s in trouble.
“And what time is it now?” Mina asks, now in front of Nayeon.
“Uhh. Hold on.” Nayeon checks her phone. “9:14. You can go on with the meeting.” she smiles.
Mina blinks. “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.” she slams the timer on the
table and hisses. “I hate, no, I loathe people who don’t value my time, especially those who think
that their time is more valuable than others.” she massages her temple left temple.“I’m sorry I was late. We can proceed with the meeting now, Team Leader Myoui.” Nayeon
gestures for Mina to continue.“As the heiress of this company, I expected more from you. Turns out I’m wrong.”
Nayeon almost gasps in disbelief. How dare Myoui Mina? Her eyes are widened and she places a
hand over her chest. She’s so offended.Mina turns back and walks to the podium. “You’ll work extra hours at the archives tonight, Ms.
Im; together with Ms. Son.”Nayeon’s eyebrows were now furrowed. She wanted to say something but then a black-bob-cut girl cranes her neck to look at Nayeon and gives a little wave. There’s chaos in the girl’s eyes, Nayeon likes her already. So Nayeon waves back.
“Do you think this is a soirée? You can meet and greet each other after the meeting.” Mina expresses her dissatisfaction.
Mina finally proceeds with her presentation. She seems to be in a terrible mood. Nayeon’s not sure
if it’s because she was late or Mina’s just not a morning person. The meeting drags on for another hour, discussing the project proposals Mina approved and disapproved. Out of five proposals, four were turned down. The last one barely made it.
Nayeon observes Mina. The team leader was serious when it came to work. It was amazing how she can give constructive criticism and comments objectively, though there are times some of her
“meanness” spills. This idea is a waste of time. It’s a shame your mother had to carry you for nine months in her womb when all you can produce is this mediocre idea. Does anyone in this room aside from me, have more than one braincell?
Yup. Definitely just a slip of the tongue.
But the worst is how she delivers her line without even raising her voice. People were right. She’s
definitely the devil in disguise. A satan incarnate. How can a sweet face say such derogatory words
without even flinching?
