- SUDDEN ESCAPE -

The smell of alcohol only made Darius' hate the inn more.

Sounds of bottles being rearranged and clashed, the death stare Fang had been giving him, Darius never paid attention to any of them. Right now, he was devising a plan in his head to get out. There was no way he'd stay for a minute longer than he already had, he thought. His crew deserves to sail the Medusa in the waters of Regimere. They had planned this for years. He can't just let a mere captain of Everfrost stop him and tell him to turn back around.

Going back to the Jade Sea and back to Ravenbourne was the last thing he'd want to do. What would the townspeople say? The Mediterranean never had this problem back then. If so, they would've solved it then. So, why bother backing out this time?

Aloysius could see that Darius had already reached his limits. He was done. Knowing his captain, he knew that this would mean trouble if this goes on.

"How many eyes are onto us right now?" He could hear Darius asking him as Aloysius only drank from his bottle before scanning the room. Frankly, he couldn't count. Some of the people in Everfrost were in the inn as well. It wouldn't be too surprised if their line of defense decided to blend in with the crowd.

"I couldn't tell. There are too many of them here," Aloysius only mumbled under his breath as Darius only cursed before pushing his way to the back --- where Calista was. Aloysius followed, noticing how tense the atmosphere was. This time around, the woman stared at the wall with only one thought stuck in her mind.

How could Ophelia do that? She was never like that - her sister.

She felt betrayed. The feeling of not knowing what her sister had on her mind for all these years. Now, she knew and almost wished that she didn't. Darius saw how dull her eyes were. They weren't as bright as the excitement she had when she planned to visit her sister.

Darius almost felt sorry but he knew some things wouldn't change - especially if her sister had thought of that for a long time. There was no convincing that woman. She would never exchange the knowledge she have towards the Angelus for her sister, he could say.

"We're planning to leave as soon as the civilians clear. We can knock some guards if they get in our way," Darius told his lover who silently nodded in agreement. This time, he decided to kneel in front of Calista and take her hands - looking at her directly in the eyes.

"Look, right now, we need to leave. You can ask your sister better after we get out of here."

Calista shook her head, tears welling up her eyes. She could never face her sister again. After what happened between them, she doesn't think she'd ever want to know the other thoughts her sister might have against her. She knew how important it was to retrieve that sunken ship but she had never would have guessed that her sister thought of her as a competition.

"I don't think there is more to discuss with her," Calista shortly answered before standing up. "Alright, let's escape this hell. Time's wasting."

Darius saw his lover walk right outside, sitting on a chair and patiently waiting for the other people to leave. It didn't take long before the inn did become a bit empty - leaving Darius' crew to be in a staring battle with the other guards that were stationed inside along with Fang's death glare at them.

Aloysius noticed how Darius had his eyes focused only on Fang. He then saw him walking down on the counter before looking like he was about to order.

"A bottle of whiskey for me, Fang," Darius told the bartender as the man only chuckled at this.

"You're not going anywhere, Captain. The men here won't let you. And you can go fuck yourself. Don't think I'd let your escape be forgotten too easily like that," he answered before spitting on his face.

Darius only wiped it clean with a cloth on his pocket before scoffing. "You'd regret that."

"Like I said, scram. Even if you did escape, there are more men outside than in this inn," Fang replied with venom in his tone. "You'll die in seconds and the captain would be so proud."

"Unless we throw you in your graves first," Calista answered before turning her head to the bottles displayed behind Fang. "Give me that bottle of whiskey. Now."

"You're more of a coward than your sister. You can't harm a single soul in this inn, I can tell you that." Calista suddenly grabbed Darius' sword and held it high to point it at Fang's throat.

Calista's eyes were dull enough that she could actually do it if she puts her effort into pushing it more to Fang's skin. "After being betrayed by my own sister, I don't think killing you would be a problem. Might leave a gift for her."

"Do it then, missy. I fucking dare you."

But knowing Calista, Darius knew she was just taunting. Darius decided to pull the sword away from her though, considering that one wrong move, blood might stain her hands. And she will either be traumatized or be used to such life - which wasn't in Darius' plan.

A sudden explosion then came right outside the inn, making a huge commotion. As soon as Fang suddenly got distracted, Darius decided to get one of the bottles by jumping over the counter, taking it, and hitting it right on Fang's head.

It didn't knock him out though so he decided to try a few more bottles before pushing him right with the crowd. Due to the sudden panic outside, the crew decided that it was probably the best time to escape. Running out, they made sure to use the civilians as cover before heading straight to the dock - where the Medusa was.

Darius followed soon after, being shocked when Aloysius came right next to him with a grin.

"Looks like a few explosives got 'em."
