"two days."

"why does it take two days to deliver a mattress?" kate asked me.

"i'm just saying, if we had bought the water bed..."

"we were not gonna sleep on a water bed, alex." i sighed in defeat continuing driving the truck we rented for ikea.

"that'd be so cool though. like, can you imagine being light and sitting on the edge, then someone launches onto it then you fly off it."

"exactly why that's a bad idea."

"catapult from home." i shrugged parking the truck.

we walked hand in hand throughout the store getting things such as dishes, frames, coffee table, a couch, dining table+ chairs, bed frame and other essentials.

"i'm sorry to say this, but i gotta go to bishop security. they need me back there." kate rushed out grabbing her coat and my keys.

"be careful, all right?" she nodded with a smile before kissing my cheek.

"if you can't get this stuff up shoot me a text, i'll send a friend."

"you have friends?" she raised her eyebrows at me, in disbelief.

"no, no, um. it just never occurred to me that you had friends."

"not helping you."

"it never crossed my mind. i- i didn't mean it like that." i chuckle nervously. she nodded and kissed my cheek again before rushing into my car.

"shit," a voice laughed behind me, "your girl looks all fluffy, but when she gave you that look, i swear you'd fold on the spot."

"yeah, she is scary sometimes not gonna lie."

"anyway, you need help carrying this to your apartment?" the tanned brunette with a heavy new york accent spoke.

"yeah, thanks that'd be helpful."

"i'm eliza but you can call me eli." she reached her hand out for a handshake which i accepted.

"alex barton."

"damn, so you for real clint barton's kid?" she asked as she picked up a box.

i only nodded as i picked up a heavy box. "hold up, we need someone to watch all your stuff. i mean this is new york after all."

she pulled out her phone talking to someone and then a white brunette came out, "this is my girlfriend, ruby."

"hey, i'm alex. pleasure to meet you."

"ohh, so she has manners. eliza, take notes since you wanna be fighting and arguing with my sister."

the woman rolled her eyes. "no, you should've seen it, alex. her crazy ass sister tried to fight me because we were on a break. a break!"

"so she pulled a ross and rachel on you huh?" i smirked grabbing the box i previously had.

"exactly. she thought i broke up with her. her ass is always snooping up on me. last time she tried to get ruby to break up with me cause i was smoking weed."

"luckily ruby already knew, but damn. that woman is praying on my downfall."

we stopped at the my door, setting the stuff down. "oh, we're right across from each other."

"you live right there?"

"yeah." she chuckled, "looks like we'll be seeing each other often."

we had majority of the boxes inside and we were now both carrying the big table in the box.
