Chapter 2: The Day After

12 Hours Later...

Ruby P.O.V

Classes have finally ended for the day, so I go back to RWBY's dorm and continue my studying from yesterday.

Yang: Hey guys, I'm gonna go do some shopping, my special shampoo and conditioner are restocked today, anyone wanna come with?

Weiss: Shouldn't you be studying? You're gonna fail Oobleck's class if you keep slacking!

Yang puts her hand on her chin, and then waves Weiss off.

Yang: *Pssh* Nah, I'm good! So, wanna come?

Weiss: No, I need to finish the homework provided by Ms. Goodwitch yesterday.

Yang: But it's Tuesday! You have, like three days before you have to turn it in!

Weiss:... You haven't even started, have you?

Yang: Nope!

Blake: Could you two please quiet down? I'm reading.

Ruby: It's pretty hard to study with all this noise, maybe I should get my headpho-

Just as I think it, I feel my hood get heavier. I check it to see my headphones hidden in it.

Ruby: Oh! Thanks Waning Rose.

I put my headphones on and notice almost all background noise is gone, even without music.

Ruby: Huh? What's with these?

I take my headphones off and look at them to see a switch on them that definitely wasn't there before. Curious, I put the headphones back on and turn the switch off, and I hear noise again.

Ruby: Wh-What the?! Waning Rose, did you add noise-cancelling to my headphones?!

I take them off again and stare in amazement.

Ruby: Whoa... What else can you improve?! Can you make my scroll faster?

Once again I feel my right pocket get heavier, I reach into it and pull out my scroll. I test it out and see a DEFINITE improvement in speed/performance.

Ruby: Holy cow this is awesome! Waning Rose you're the best friend ever!

Y/n P.O.V

Y/n: Well, this is interesting.

As you can see-hypothetical viewer- I can improve things that I put in my pocket dimension thing, although it only seems to happen when Ruby wants it. Why do I keep explaining my abilities? Well I just like explaining things, okay?!

Y/n: Damn, I think I'm going crazy.

Ruby: Waning Rose you're the best friend ever!

Y/n: Aw, you're just buttering me up.

You may also be wondering why I keep responding to her when she can't her me, well, I guess I just find it comforting, even if it's also infuriating.

Ruby: Huh, I don't remember installing these?

Y/n: What?

I look at her scroll through her eyes and see a "Games" folder that has games Ruby's probably never heard of, but I am VERY familiar with.

Y/n: InFAMOUS? DMC 3? Dead Rising?! Are these... All the games I've played?

Sure enough, the Games folder holds pretty much every game I've ever played (at least the ones I remember).

Ruby: Whoa, this is crazy! What should I play?

Y/n: Uh-oh, we might be here a while... Wait how can the scroll even store and play all of these?! What kinda specs did I give it?!

Whilst I ponder this conundrum, Ruby decides to put her scroll down and try to focus on studying.

Five Hours Later...

Night has returned, and Ruby appears to have gone brain dead from studying.

Ruby: Uugh, my brain huuuuuurts!

Ruby currently has her face buried in her pillow, screaming in muffled agony.

Y/n: She should probably go to sleep, it's late.

Just as I start thinking of ways to make her sleep, I hear the door open and who walks in but Yang Xiao Long!

Yang: Hey guys, I'm baa~aack!

Blake: Why were you gone so long?

Yang: Well, on the way back I saw that I was running ot of dust, so I went to a station, but thenIsawashopthathadsome weaponmagazinessoIthought'MightaswellgetsomethingforRuby.'SoIdidandthen-

Ruby: *Muffled* Please stop, my head hurts.

Yang: Oh, okay, here's the magazine by the way.

She tosses it at Ruby, who instinctively catches it.

Y/n: Oh right, Spider-Sense.

Ruby puts the magazine on her bed, too tired to even look at the cover.

Ruby: *Muffled* I'm going to bed.

Yang: You're already in your bed.

Ruby:...*Snore*

Y/n: She's already asleep, impressive.
