 Ciccio's POV

These words caught Guido's attention.

"What do you mean?" I chuckled, confused.

"That'd be weird" Ercole said looking back and forth between Guido and I.

"Right" Guido mumbled as he let out a few short laughs.

I saw Guido turn to look at me so I looked back. He immediately looked away.

"Now can I continue my presentation?" Ercole asked rhetorically.

We both focused on Ercole and he continued.

After about 23 painfully long minutes, it was over. I nudged Guido to wake him up. He quickly opened his eyes and faced Ercole.

"Any questions?" Ercole asked.

We both shook our heads.

"Good" he said.

"Now get up. We have to work" he commanded.

The day went by as usual. Ercole bullied some kids, bribed an officer, and lied about his age.

"That was a successful day" Ercole stated.

"You may leave now" he continued.

Guido and I walked away and started walking to my house. He always dropped me off and then went home.

"Ercole has so many dumb rules" Guido chuckled.

"I KNOW RIGHT" I shouted.

"What is 'You must be 6ft within Ercole unless you're told otherwise'" he asked confused.

Laughter erupted.

"No, no and 'What is started by Ercole shall be finished with you'" I cackled.

"Don't forget 'You must protect Ercole's Vespa and food'" he howled.

"It's so oddly specific" I cried.

"That's not even the worst one" I snickered stupidly.

The laughter died off. We looked at each other for a few seconds that felt like an eternity. Guido forced a chuckle.

Thankfully, we reached my house.

"Well um- my nonna is making fettuccini for dinner. Would you like to come over?" I asked.

"I'd love to" he responded with a smile.

"Great" I said after with a breath of relief.

"But I can't" he continued with a sorrowful look.

"I promised my mom I'd take care of my siblings tonight. She's taking a night shift and they'd be home alone. I'm sorry" he said making eye contact with the floor.

"Oh. Don't worry I completely understand" I answered with a fake smile.

"Yeah. Sorry, again" he repeated, rubbing the back of his neck.

"It's ok, Guido. I get it. We'll talk tomorrow, ok?" I slightly nodded my head to reassure him.

"Thanks for understanding man" he grinned.

I nodded once again. He walked away and I entered my home.

Guido's POV

I walked into my house with a neutral look -as always- so my family wouldn't question me. I tried going straight to my room but my mom stopped me.

"Guido! How was work, mijo" she perkily asked.
