Victor slammed the button on the alarm clock as he groggily opened his eyes. He yawned before sitting on the edge his bed. Victor rubbed his eyes, collecting himself from his slumber. It was now Saturday, so Victor didn't have to go to work today, saving him some anxiety and awkwardness from yesterday's situation.

Victor still wasn't over what happened yesterday. He was still incredibly enraged over what happened, and didn't want to hear UZZ's name or even see anything involving UZZ, Mildred included. Victor sighed as he thought of his mother. He felt incredibly conflicted over their conversation-turned argument yesterday. One part of Victor was furious with Mildred and how she and UZZ lied and manipulated him. Another part felt guilty over how Victor exploded at Mildred. Sure she did play along in manipulating and deceiving Victor, but how much did she truly have a hand in it? Was she just doing what was best for her son?

Victor's thoughts quickly dissipated as his stomach began to groan for some breakfast. Victor gave his stomach a quick few pats before going downstairs to make his morning meal.

Victor spent nearly all day at the couch watching television. He didn't even realize how much time had passed, not that he really cared. This was his coping mechanism, engulfing himself in movies and cartoons until he felt better. It didn't matter whether it was some cheesy romance flick or a low-budget horror movie, Victor simply needed a distraction from reality.

Suddenly, the doorbell had rang, alongside a few knocks. Victor then got up and walked over to the door, peeking through the eye hole to see who was there. There stood a rather frustrated Anita waiting behind the door. Victor jumped back in shock at Anita's appearance. "Victor, I know you're in there!" Anita called as she knocked the door even harder.

Victor panicked as he tried to think of something to tell Anita. "Victor, I just want to talk!" Anita exclaimed. Victor couldn't keep Anita out for long. Even if he blocked her out now, he still couldn't keep her out at work. Victor took a deep breath in, ready to face the music.

"Victor, what's going on?" Anita inquired. Victor remained silent, unable to find a proper response to Anita's question. "Well there must be something going on?" Anita raised her eyebrow. "First, I find Mildred crying in Nurse Cassidy's office. Then you leave UZZ without telling anyone and ignore my calls!".

Victor bit his lip as Anita continued to interrogate him. "Look Victor, I'm just as concerned as you are about all this, but we need to stick together." Anita then gently held Victor's hands in hers. "We're partners. Partners never let the other suffer alone..." Anita sounded as if she were holding back tears. Victor let out a remorseful sigh, he still wasn't ready to tell Anita what was going on.

"It's just private family stuff. I just don't feel comfortable talking about it at the moment..." Victor replied. "Alright then," Anita said. "Are you at least still coming to the UZZ Spring Ball? I mean it is tomorrow night.". Victor stood in silence as Anita waited for an answer. "Fine, I'll leave you be..." Anita sighed before turning and walking away.

Victor closed the door behind Anita as she left. "𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱...".
