Francisca and Flamberge, despite being polar opposites, were getting on extremely well. What with Francisca's calm demeanor to cool Flamberge's rage, and Flamberge's fiery, eccentric personality to bring Francisca out of her shell, they complimented one another like a cold drink in summer.
It started out like any other day, just the two girls tending to their duties, stopping for a chat or to hang out every once in a while, telling Jammerjabs to get back to work, that sort of thing.
They were seated, leaning against the wall. Their hands lay on top of one another's. They had nothing to do for a while, so they were resting.
The ice mage, relatively new to her Jambastion lifestyle, sometimes felt a bit unsure in her capabilities of serving Lord Hyness. However, having Flamberge around, who was also new, comforted her, because they could both learn together.
The blue girl let her thoughts run wild, while Flamberge peered at her. Her expression clearly said she wanted to ask something.
"So...uh...that song you were singing."
"Hm?" Francisca hummed inquisitively, tilting her head at her.
"When we were doing my initiation. You were singing some kind of song, I think. What is it? What's it called? Why'd you sing it?"
She gave a closed eye smile in return, her downward curved eye markings made extra visible to Flamberge now. "Why, that is our Song of Supplication. Alternatively, also called our Prayer Song to God. Me and Lord Hyness wrote it together. We were waiting for a very special person to arrive, however, so that we could sing it, seeing as it mentions a three. It is, in essence, a most humble plea for our dear Void's assistance."
The redhead tapped her chin, her eyes slightly narrowing in thought. "Huh. Can you sing it now? Or is it...some kind of sacred thing?"
"I suppose I could sing it now, if you wanted me to." The ice mage replied, scratching the back of her neck with a shy expression. "I'm sure Lord Hyness wouldn't mind."
The wild-haired girl eyed her expectantly, and Francisca drew a breath in preparation.
"In spite of all, cold as ice! In spite of all, hard as stone! In spite of all, hear our plea! In spite of all, all alone!
In spite of all, we reconcile! In spite of all, we pass the trial!
In spite of all, hear us three! We beg of thee! We beg of thee!"
She then repeated the same set of lyrics one more time, before stopping.
After a few moments, Flamberge blinked. "Ummm...is that all you got for it?"
"Yes," The icey girl nodded. "Why? Do you think it should be bigger?"
Falling silent, the fire girl nodded her head. "Seems kinda short if you ask me. If this song you got here is supposed to be calling for your god, shouldn't it have a bit more thought put into it?"
Francisca hung her head with embarrassment, pursing her lips together underneath her veil. "Well...urmm...we..."
She was silent in shame, now feeling slightly unworthy to even sing the song.
Then, Flamberge gave a determined grin.
"Don't worry! I'll go think up some more words for it! I'm kinda okay at writing, and I'll work off of what we already have!"
She then dashed off without another word, leaving a confused and intrigued ice mage behind. Francisca brushed a lock of hair out of her face, still gazing in her direction. "Alright...jambuhbye?"
