"A-and, I was so mean to him, I feel so bad," you hug your (other) mother tighter, crying into her shoulder, "I wish I could go back in time and convince him to stay. I just wish I hadn't said what I said,"

The other mother continues to rub your back, not saying anything in response. She looks around at the house she's built, the couch you two were laying on, as well as the decorations. She inspects everything, using it as an outlet to hold in her anger towards the boy.

"I knew I should've got rid of him." She thinks to herself. "She hurt my baby."

"It's okay, [Name]," she whispers in an attempt to calm you down.

"No! It's not!" You sob harder, "He's always been there for me! How could I try to pretend he wasn't!?"

Your tears pain her, and she finally isn't able to push down the petty, anger filled comments that's been swirling around in her head. "That boy. He's such a pain," she frowns, gritting her teeth, subconsciously tightening her nails around you. And finally, the mask she's so delicately crafted for your sake crumbles to the ground, her anger getting the best of her. "I'll kill him."

...

"..what?"

Time seems to freeze as your tears abruptly stop falling, a sickening and nauseating feeling overcoming your body. The other mother doesn't say anything before she giggles, her giggles turning into chuckles, turning into a full on laughter. "Oh, cariño! I was joking of course!" She traces a trail on your forehead, studying your face intently.

You don't say anything as your body temperature seemingly drops to negative twenty degrees Celsius in less than a second. Your heart is in your stomach and you slowly, even slower than a snail, unwrap your arms around her and sit up straight, trying to not look obvious, and acting as natural as your mentality will let you.

She watches you. She sees your fear, a blantent and blaring projection cast over your body. All at once, she becomes stoic.

It's silent. There are no bugs, no animals, no other living being making not even the most miniscule sound. It's as if every single living being has ceased it's movement upon her command. Your other father carefully watches from afar.

"[Name]."

You don't move.

"[Name], look at me when I'm talking to you!" She raises her voice towards the end of the phrase, causing you to flinch and look up at her.

"Are you scared, [Name]?"

Your mouth barely moves. "...N-no."

She stares at you and you stare back. A moment passes by. Your heart beating out of your chest, you bolt out of the room running because your life literally depended on it.

Making your way to the tiny door, you hastily grab both hands on the door knob and twist, turn, pull, but nothing works. It's completely locked up.

For the third time that day, you burst in tears, "I'm gonna die here! I'm gonna die here! Camilo's gonna die too, and it's all my fault!"

Click, clack, click, clack.

"[Name]! Come out!" She calls out in a tone that's sickeningly sweet. You can hear the smile in her voice, and that only propels your fear. "I'm doing this because I love you!" Sweat beads down your forehead and you fruitlessly yank and the door knob, holding in your sobs.
