Super girl: Adventures of Querl DOX and Theia

Chapter 14 - Thanksgiving

Brainy was worried...he preferred the term adequately concerned, but Lena was right, he was anxious. Not only was Lex Luthor roaming around freely gathering ancient power, but he had also managed to strip his beloved Theia of her powers. His major concern though was Theia herself, she had signs equivalent to someone struggling with grief. She through herself into her work at the DEO, constantly kept pushing Lena to try and use magic to find either Lex or a crystal. Even now, she was hunched over the system at the tower, giving a frustrated groan.

"Are you alright?" He asked her even though she looked anything but.
"I'm peachy" she tapped the keyboard a little too hard.
"You don't appear to be peachy.  I'm here of you need.."
"..I am trying to see if there is a way to track the signatures that these crystals release.."
"I could be of service.."
"..I didn't ask for your help Querl "
Well she didn't snap at him this time, so progress.

Supergirl flew in with J'onn
"We've circled the globe, North and South" Kara sighed
"No sign of Lex" said J'onn. He looked at Theia " How are you holding up?"
"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" Theia groaned.
"We know it isn't easy loosing your powers" Alex said
"We could have movie night tomorrow if you want" Nia offered
"Tomorrow is Thanksgiving " Kara sighed " I almost forgot"
"Yeah me too" said Alex " Who's hosting this year?"
"Well Nia and I are working on a huge case" Kara said
"I plan on visiting Meghan and Malefic before the feast" J'onn smiled

"Kelly, Esme and I are getting  mani-pedies" Alex grinned
"And I believe it is my turn to patrol in the Legion cruiser tomorrow " Brainy said
"I'll do it" Theia volunteered
"Are you sure?" Nia asked her
"We know you're going through alot right now.."
"I am going through nothing. I am fine. I will do all the cooking for tomorrow's dinner" Theia huffed
"It's settled then" J'onn said.

This was not Theia's brightest hour. The poor princess gazed around at all the groceries Nia and Kara piled in.
"Are you sure you can handle this" Nia placed a hand on her shoulder.
Theia nodded firmly
"Good cause we usually triple the recipes " Kara adjusted her glasses
"What?!Why?"
"Our powers require huge appetites especially for a feast" Kara said in defense
"Plus you and Alex love the leftovers" Theia smirked
"I love that you get me " Kara hugged her.
  
"I don't believe this, they got everything but the cranberry sauce" Brainy muttered to himself as he entered Nia's kitchen. He didn't mind dropping it off though, it was an excuse to see her. He heard soft sobs coming from behind the kitchen counter. The whole place was a mess. Almost every surface was covered in flour,mashed potatoes were smeared everywhere and futile attempts of pecan pies littered the table tops.
He approached her cautiously
"Theia, are you alright?" He was really worried now
"I'm fine Querl" she wiped her face
"You're lachrymation suggests otherwise"

She made an irritated sound
"I was instructed by Nia Nal to drop of some cranberry sauce" he turned to leave " But if you'd benefit more from solitude..."
"Go away" she huffed
He was almost at the door
"You're actually leaving?" She glanced up at him
"...eerr..yes. That is what you instructed" he furrowed his brows in confusion

"Well, I changed my mind. Stay"
"Okay" he sat beside her on the floor. He wanted to comfort her, tell her that everything would be Ok, that he was there for her.
"It's almost time for dinner...I'll never finish in time" she sniffed
"No one will care.."

"Maybe not..but..I've been feeling pretty crappy lately. I mean first I had a whole kingdom, then I lost it. I had superpowers Querl, an entire rainbow of them, then I lost it on my second battle. I mean that has to be some sort of world record. I had the coolest super suit ever, and I lost that too"
"You liked my suit?"
"Yeah, it was the coolest thing I had ever worn"
"Maybe there is a way to get Iris back.."
"I've tried everything. I can't bring Iris back, I can't find Lex, I can't help Supergirl stop him, I can't even cook a simple dinner because  all these earth foods are so weird!and I don't understand the recipes. I feel so useless"
"You are not useless " Brainy said matter-of-factly "You are a brilliant scientist and an eight level intellect. You are brave and you are the most amazing person I have ever met"
"I'm sorry.."
"Why are you apologizing?"
"Because I've been such a jerk to you" she said quietly
"That is my fault. I lied and pretended to be someone else.. I did want to be your friend though. I still do. I know you think you've lost everything, but you still have the superfriends. And now, you have this.." he took of his Legion ring.
"I can't take that.." she knew how much that ring meant to him.
"I trust you will take care of it" he placed it in her hand. Sure, he wanted her to feel a little less powerless, but Lex seemed to have a personal vendetta against her from the future. She needed to be as safe as possible.
Theia couldn't explain what was happening to her. It was like she was suddenly high on dopamine. She felt unnaturally happy considering she was still grieving Iris. Her cheeks felt warm from how close she was to him. She felt the overwhelming urge to lean in and...
"Now" Brainy stood and helped her up " Let's save our Thanksgiving dinner".

They were able to finish everything but the turkey. Everyone began piling in.
"Kara,  would you do the honours" Theia asked
"Of course" Kara took of her glasses and laser cooked the turkey. "Everything smells so good"
"Of course it does, Theia is an excellent cook" Brainy smiled. He gave her all the credit. She felt an unfamiliar flutter in her stomach.
"Let's eat" J'onn announced.
"Alright things we are thankful for" Kara spoke up "I am thankful for every single one of you"
"I am thankful for you guys too. Having two families rock" Nia smiled
"I'm thankful for my entire family" Alex hugged Esme and Kelly
"I am thankful for the mozzarella sticks" Esme giggled
"I am thankful for those too" Kelly  patted Esme's hair
"I am thankful for the fact that, of all timelines and planets to land on, it had to be this one. I am thankful for such an amazing family" Theia smiled.
