Chapter 5- Slushies and games

It was a Friday night. The super friends invited Theia to game night since they all felt she was already becoming part of the family. She accepted the invite but Brainy had a feeling she would think otherwise. He wanted her to come, partly because being around other people would help her adjust and make her happier. But mainly because he wanted to see her every minute of every day if he could. So a few hours before the fun and games began, he went to the one place he knew she'd be based on his calculations.
She was hunched over the engine of her ship and her shoulders tensed when she felt someone else's presence. She swiftly faced him and she relaxed.
"Hi" she said
"Greetings"
"What are you doing here? Don't you have that game thing to attend?"
"Yes, as do you"
"So you came here to come get me?" She folded her arms
"Well..I.. just thought.."
"How'd you even know where to find me?"
"Easy. I created a simulation based on your characteristics and my calculations gave an eighty nine point four two chance that you'd be here"
"Oh.." she toyed the screwdriver in her hand.
"You seem upset"
"I'm fine"
"I'm your friend. You can tell me anything "
She sighed
"Nia wanted me to catch up on earth movies. We've been watching several since thus week. Today we watched frozen and Tinkerbell secret of the wings. I know it's stupid but seeing Esla.. "
"Elsa"
"Right. And that fairy reminded me of my sister. I abandoned my entire planet, there bottled up somewhere as a collection..and I can't fix this stupid ship" she tossed the screwdriver.
"Well.."
"And why is it so warm on this planet? I want to go home"
"I know something that might be of help, but only if you accompany me to Kara's loft afterwards"

"What do you say it's called again?" She asked as Brainy handed her a huge plastic cup.
"A slushie"
She looked at the dispensers
"But there are so many flavors. How do humans decide?"
"Well..the frequent consumption of different flavors will eventually.."
She began filling and gulping the ice cold beverage just as quickly.
"Or you could do that" Brainy smiled
"It's so cold. I love it" she sipped a whole mouthful.
"I'm glad, but maybe you should slow down or you could get a.."
"Sphenopalatine Ganglioneuralgia.
Ouch" she groaned in pain and rubbed her forehead. Brainy's heart fluttered, he had no idea why the fact that she didn't call it brain freeze like an average human impressed him.
"I'll drink through the pain" she said.
They headed towards Kara's house in silence.
"So, do you miss your family? Your Dad, or Mum?"
"I most definitely don't. But I do miss my friends in the Legion" he replied as he fiddled with the ring on his finger.
"So what planet are you from?"
"I was born here" he lied
"So did you attend an earth school?"
"No. I was home schooled" atleast that much was true. He was going to have to tell her soon. He weighed the decision mentally before he heard her scream.
He looked around and found her in the air, flying away rapidly.
"Help! Iris?!!"
He flew after her, cuffed one of her wrists with a power dampener and carried her safely back to the ground.
"Do not fear, I've got you" he said soothingly.
She took a deep breath
"So you just carry dampeners around with you?"
"I calculated the odds of you having brief outbursts of your powers as you adjust to your patron. Flight is one of the many powers of an Irisian".
"How do you know so much about this".
"I got to meet alot of interesting species as a Legionnaire".
"I can't live like this"
"Indeed. We start training tomorrow"
"Tomorrow?"
"Seven am"
"No. Can we make that a nine..?"
"No"
"I'm not really a morning person.."
"It's not up for debate. Everyone will be training. It will be fun"
They went into Kara's loft where everyone was waiting. Game night was fun and Theia realized it was the happiest she had ever felt in a long time.
