Three months later, November

"Do you know what I just realised?" Ellie says, waking Dina.

"That it's before sunrise and you should be sleeping?" she asks, with her eyes still closed.

"We didn't celebrate my birthday or your birthday."

"You fucked off to Santa Barbara. And we kinda celebrated my birthday. Remember when we were sat out on the porch, and you brought me bacon and eggs and an orange juice and a tea?"

"Yeah, I remember. That was a warm morning."

"That was my birthday?"

"What? No, your birthday is..."

"16 August... and that was 16 August."

"Fuck off..."

"No, really."

"Aw, man, I had something special planned. Fuck." Ellie sighs, turning to look at Dina.

"You wanna know something special you can do?"

"Hmm?"

"Get your stinky breath out of my face."

Ellie smirks and breathes all over her. "You love it."

"Urgh, I really don't. Go! Brush your teeth. No, Ellie. No! Babe... stop!"

Ellie stops trying to attack Dina with kisses. She clears her throat and then rolls out of bed to disappear into the bathroom. "Sorry." She says at the door.

"It's fine. Just do your teeth again and I'm going back to sleep. Shit, El. It's 5am, you should also get back to sleep."

"Alright."

Dina listens to Ellie brushing her teeth and tries to get comfy again, but finds she is unable to do so. "Great, now I'm awake."

Ellie mumbles, whilst still brushing her teeth. She comes back into the room and gets under the duvet. "Ooh, warm spot. Sorry, what were you saying?"

"I'm awake now."

"Sorry." Ellie kisses Dina's shoulder and lies on her left side. "Scooch on in her. Lemme spoon you and see if you can fall asleep cuddling me."

"Mmm, okay. That might help actually."

Sure enough, Dina is fast asleep within minutes of Ellie spooning her.

This time the silence is ruined by the alarm clock buzzing on the nightstand. Dina grumbles and flails about trying to find the snooze button. She finds it... by throwing the clock on the floor.

"Shit."

"Hmm?" Ellie mutters, half-asleep.

"Nothing, just go back to sleep."

"Okay. Hey, what day is it?"

"Uh, Wednesday. Why?"

"When's my next appointment for my ankle?"

"Wednesday 9 November, why?"

"And what's the date?"

"How should I know?"

"Isn't there a calendar downstairs?"

Dina sighs. "Just go back to sleep, we can check it later."

"You're the boss."

They close their eyes again and have another hour's sleep.

"Hmm, morning." Ellie says, smirking at Dina who is currently kissing her shoulder. Dina throws her hair up in a messy bun and straddles Ellie. "Dina, I'm tired. Can we do this later?"
