𝐊𝐎 𝐘𝐄𝐎-𝐉𝐈𝐍 pulls the blanket over herself further, burying herself deeper in the seclusion and comfort of the small space. The only source of light being the small battery operated flashlight chucked between her pillows and nothing but the sound of her own voice.

It's far past bedtime and she's assured everyone in the house has long fallen asleep── she knows she should be sleeping too, but inspiration gnaws at her fingertips, urging her that the night is still young.

In the stillness of the moment, Yeo-Jin is broken from her state of innovation when something knocks against her window. In a haste, her blankets were flung off and the young girl carefully watches the glass plain again before advancing.

A small rock comes colliding with window again and Yeo-Jin finally leaves the warmth of her bed. A bleak midwinter's night in Korea had been no different than life without color, especially in her rundown neighborhood where the only thing that seemed alive were the people.

But there Baek Yi-Jin stood, under the only non-flickering streetlight in her range of sight. A smile so radiant and rare present on his lips, his eyes seemed to glistened with autumn leaves. And suddenly, winter seemed to fade, and flowers bloomed for spring.

But Yeo-Jin snaps out of it before she could further her thoughts. It's not right. His family was the one sponsoring Yu-Rim's fencing, and that if her innate talents were to appear, she too would receive their support. It's not right for a relationship to blossom between them.

" What are you doing here? " She mouths, her body leaning against the window sill, slightly tilting outwards.

" Can I come in? " He whispers back, pointing towards the inside of her room. Yeo-Jin shakes her head.

" Hold on, I'll go out instead. " She hurries to put on her jacket and scarf before snatching the piece of parchment on top of her bed and leaping out the window. Her breath instantly mists in the air, the cold picking at her skin.

" Last one to the swings owes the winner a wish! " Yi-Jin declares as she gets close enough and takes off into a sprint before she can catch what he said. Yeo-Jin chuckles, her feet digging into the road before chasing after him.

For now, this'll have to do. Yeo-Jin would just have to settle with the fact that they were to be nothing else but friends who ran into the night together.
