"So, you're finally awake." the younger man says. Who are these people? I won't be able to see their faces until my eyes dilate.
"Where am I? What is going on?" I say, feeling like a young child asking too many questions. Curious about the world around them. Proving their innocence. Blind to the evil in the world. "You'll know, in time." the older man says. My eyes still haven't fully adjusted, but I try to look around me. I'm underground somewhere. I have to be. Almost resembling a cellar. I'm trying to resist making any irrational actions. I don't know what these people are capable of. Stay put. Be patient. You will know what you need to do when the time is right.
One of them comes down to me. Heels. I know the sound. They put an electronic lantern down here with me. A tray as well. "Eat, I'm sure you are starving. You'll need your strength." Her voice is soothing. Almost convincing me that she really cares. Does she really care? "Wait." I say, as I force my hand to grab hers. "Where am I? What do you want?" I feel so desperate. I have every right to. "You'll know in time." She whispers. I hear empathy in her voice. "Now let go. If they see you grabbing me, they will beat you." Beat me?
I let go of her hand. What kind of place is this? I have so many questions, but I never get the chance to ask them. They were gone in an instant. The hatch closes, and I hear them lock it. Now, the only light in here is the lantern. The only thing standing between me and the darkness again. My symbol of hope.
That's when I noticed the tattoo on my forearm. I never once got a tattoo before. "1315X". It's in big bold font where it wont be hard to notice. It's also easy for other people to read.
