Our hands are entangled. His arm is wrapped around my waist, and our proximity is far from distant. His head is on my chin as he walks me home, away from the plan that successfully worked. I almost thought it was a dream, but it wasn't. I'd pinch myself, but Sunoo's holding both of my hands.
We arrive at my house, and I feel his touch lingering as we separate to our doors. While he's turning away, I pinch myself, letting out a quick hiss that has Sunoo turning around in an instant. Once he sees me massaging the arm that I pinched myself, he chuckles. "Did you think this wasn't real, Areum?"
I hesitate, but after all this time, what's there to keep between us. "Yeah."
I can't help but start to smile. This can't be real. "You don't know how much I want to hold you in my arms right now, Areum," He covers his face with his hands, smiling like a fool. I can't control myself, but I can't let my siblings know either. It's not the right time. It's too early, isn't it? "But I know what you're thinking. Now that we're... together, we have to be careful."
"They'll support us, Sunoo."
"Then..." He trails off, taking a step away from his door and towards me. I feel his hand intertwine with mine, using his other hand to press against my cheek. It was warm. "Why don't we tell them?"
I hesitate. He notices it far too easily. He caresses my cheek with his moving thumb, kissing my forehead before smiling at me. If I didn't get inside this apartment in a few moments, I was going to explode from the inside out. All because of Kim Sunoo. "We can tell them when you're ready. You don't have to worry about them knowing for now."
I smile at him, starting to nod. "Okay. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, my love," My love. My love, my love, my love! I am going to lose my mind before he calls me his wi- no, too far. "See you tomorrow. Let's hang out, okay?"
"Okay. Text me," I wave as I unlock the door, already missing Sunoo. He watches me go in before I hear his door close as I'm inside, and I completely melt. I slide down the door, hiding my body in the doorway. I'm groaning and missing the lingering hands around my waist, hitting my head as I can see Sunoo's smile when my eyes fall shut. "Oh my god, Areum! You're dating the boy you've liked since middle school! It's paying off, oh my god! Maybe, maybe, maybe you guys are going to get mar- no, no. Too far. Enough with that, Areum."
