Zoey slammed the door shut to her fathers office and walked down the hallway angrily, away from where she had just met with her father, "arranged marriage," she talked to herself, as she threw her hands up in the air, "do people still do that?" The car was waiting for her outside, she got in and instructed her driver to take her to the bakery. She now knew the reason her father had wanted to meet in his office, he didn't want her to make a scene in public. It had been two years since she had moved away from her parents home. Why did they insist on involving her in their business? They had agreed to let her make her own choices her own business decisions. She had believed that only her mother had had a harder time letting her do what she had always dreamed of and she succeeded she had forged her own path, and of course she would always be grateful to her parents which had allowed her to do what she wanted and given her the means to do so, they had never pressured her into getting involved with the company.  She turned to the window, not really seeing anything because she was lost in her own thoughts, the car stopped and she stepped out automatically as if in a daze.

Zoey stood on the sidewalk in front of The Bakery On First, her coat flapped open and she wrapped it around herself tightly as she fought against the windchill, she put one of her hands out and caught a snowflake. She loved to see the first snowfall, she watched as people walked in and out of the large bakery with smiles on their faces. Zoey walked in and was greeted by Greta the cashier, she simply nodded smiled and walked straight to the kitchen. Luka hadn't arrived yet, he should be arrive at any given moment.

Luke had been by her side since she had opened her first bakery, he was hard working, dedicated and loyal and she wouldn't expect any less of him. She had just attended his wedding a few months ago. She was grateful for all his hard work, she had gifted the bride and groom a new car. Although Luke was her own age, she knew that she was lucky to have what she had. She had grown up with money and privilege, but her mother, as cold as she was, always made sure she earned what she had and saw the value of it, making sure she knew that not everyone grew up with wealth and privilege like she had. Growing up she later started to enjoy doing the volunteer work that her mother had once forced upon her. Her mother had told her that she had indeed not come from money and that she and her father had fought against everyone that opposed their marriage, including their own parents.

She was amazed at how the time had flown by, it had been three years since she had opened The Bakery On First, she was proud of how much she had accomplished in this short time.

"Hey boss, do you need the kitchen? I should be done in about fifteen minutes," Savanna informed her.

"No rush, I'll be in the office for now , I am going to do a run through at the other locations, let Luka know I'm in my office and to come see me when he arrives." Zoey said to Savanna and walked straight back to her office.

"Will do boss," Savanna went back to her work and Zoey disappeared into the back.

This bakery had been her very first, before she had the large chain she does now. This is where she had established everything and this is where her office was and always would be.

Zoey took off her coat and sat in her chair, she let out a long held sigh and let her head fall back on the headrest of her chair, maybe she should  let Luka go on his own, she needed the rest of the evening to herself.

Luke walked into the bakery, taking a deep breath he smiled, he really did enjoy his work, he never though he would get so luck, of course like any other job, it was at times tiring, frustrating and stressful, but it was far more rewarding and satisfying than anything else. Zoey was a great person that he admired very much, she was a strong, kind and an understanding boss, friend and woman. He was at his lowest point when he met Zoey, his mother has passed away when he was very young, he only had his father, but when his father fell ill, he had to leave college to work and pay for his father medical expenses, Zoey was the only one to help him and accept him with out a college degree, she was the only one to give him a chance to prove that he could do this job.
