These were the colors I got and, honestly, I got pretty lucky

This is what I ended up with, other than the abnormally short right arm/her left arm I think  it turned out okay

This is what I ended up with, other than the abnormally short right arm/her left arm I think  it turned out okay. I definitely need to work on my alcohol marker skills but it was still fun.
I had a short phase where I was really into drawing mermaids and, of course, I got kind of good at it but I have since stopped with the mermaid illustrations and have lost some of that talent. The end of the tails confuse me the most...

Like should they be soft and flowy?? I see that a lot but it doesn't make sense to me

Like should they be soft and flowy?? I see that a lot but it doesn't make sense to me. How are they able to go fast when the end of there tail can't go against the water but instead bends at it's will???

But this harder less flowy tail makes it hard to keep that airy and lightless look that mermaids should have in water and the clef thing allows water through which prevents even faster swimming(or maybe it's what makes them faster?) so should it b...

But this harder less flowy tail makes it hard to keep that airy and lightless look that mermaids should have in water and the clef thing allows water through which prevents even faster swimming(or maybe it's what makes them faster?) so should it be a fan tail??? The fan will make them faster? I have no idea how fish tails work so i'm only going off feeling but for some reason the fan tail seems just as bad as the flowy tail. I have no idea, let me know your opinions on mermaid tails, maybe that'll help me decide (I'm leaning towards the hard cleft tail).
