The first step in creating your plot is outlining your story is to find a suitable outlining method. We have different types of outlining and we are going to discuss them one by one.

The outline that you should choose is the one you're comfortable with to avoid loopholes and also confusion on your part.

Creating an Outline is very essential in starting your story. In this way, you can organize the important details and scenes in your story.

TYPES OF OUTLINING

🗺️ Mind Map. - A visual approach to outlining that shows the spatial relationships between your plot points, characters, themes, conflicts, chapters — you name it. This is an example of mind mapping

📄 Synopsis - A holistic story outline that gives a brief overview of the story's plot, characters, conflicts, and themes in a two- to three-page paper. It can also be written in a few paragraphs...

⚫ The Beat Sheet - Documents the beats of the story in shorthand. Each individual 'beat' gets a bullet (or a number). It is written in bullet form. The content of it is only the important details in your stories. Such as the scenes that are essential for the growth of your character.

💀 The Skeleton - Constructs the spine of the novel or the key plot points. Imagine a roadmap with only big-name destinations marked in red — the road to get there is up to you. Example of skeleton outlining.

👥 Characters First - A character-led novel outline. Prioritizes character development, character arcs, and character beats over the planning of the plot. In short, you are creating your plot based on the character.

➡ ️ Scenes and Sequences - Details all the scenes and sequences — in other words, the large set pieces of the novel. This is typically one of the hardest since it requires more time and effort. You are somehow organizing the scenes and events of the whole novel.

Second Step: Setting the stage

A.The importance of premise-In creating your novel it is important to set the premise or stage of the story so that it will have a good foundation and that your plot and scenes won't fall apart. In writing the premise, you need to answer the following questions.

"What is your story all about?"This question is the building block and one of the most important parts of your story.

If you can't answer that question try asking yourself why are you writing that story?

Is it to entertain? To persuade? Or to teach?

B. Cast your Character

-One of the most efficient ways in creating your character is to answer the following questions:

how do they get to this point in life?

What do they think?

What are their desires and goals?

-The physical appearance of the character is based solely on how you imagine them. The important thing about this is you need to create the purpose of that character in the story or to the main character.
