I was just sitting in my apartment watching my favourite show greys anatomy while eating pizza and cookies when my phone started to ring. I look down expecting it to be Emily or Amy but its an unknown number.

Weird.

I decided to answer anyway because i always love taking the piss out of cold callers so thought why not.

Y/n: Hello, who is this.

Stranger: Is this y/n y/l/n I'm speaking too

Y/n: Depends who's asking and what they want.

Stranger: This is Sean Durkin, I've heard from a very excited slightly annoying friend of yours that you would be interested in helping me direct an indie film that I am starting soon.

Y/n mind: ok ok ok ahhhhhhh ok be cool be cool chill chill y/n chill, AHHHH I love you Amy.

Y/n: Omg yes i would love to help you out and assist in any way I can.

Sean: Brilliant, your friend provided me with your history of short films and the fact you were top of your class in USC. So i do believe you would be an asset on set, not to mention the experience you would be gaining on a proper movie set. I'm glad to be able to count you on board then. Your taking the job yes?

Y/n: Yes, yes i would honoured. thank you so much Mr Durkin sir.

Sean: Brilliant y/n and please call me Sean, the pay is decent for someone with little to no experience like yourself but we have high hopes for this movie so you would be able to get a bonus depending on how hard you work and the overall success. Production and filming start soon as the cast has already been chosen. Let's see it's now Wednesday, so we will be starting around 9 am on Monday morning but you will need to be on set at 8am to do a quick run through with the basics. I will text you later in the week with the final details and address.

Y/n: Ok that's perfect, thank you so much for this opportunity Sean. I promise I won't let you down and I will do anything and everything possible to make your life easier.

Sean: ahah ok y/n good to know, I look forward to working with you. See you Monday.

Sean hangs up the phone, while I'm now standing in my bathtub due to the intense pacing I was doing throughout that whole phone call. HOLY SHIT. How did this even happen, Amy is the best person I've ever met omg I'm going to owe her so bad now. But i don't even care. I'm working on a movie set. A real life set. Yes ok i will more than likely be moving round equipment and getting Sean coffee or bugging everyone he needs but still. A movie set. OMG. I can't believe it. I gotta call my mom.

After a length conversation with my mother who invited both my younger brother and dad onto the call I was able to call Amy and thank her hundreds of thousands of times for being the best person ever. Both phone calls went well and my family were so excited to hear of my opportunity, they were sceptical at first when i said i wanted to go to film school but once I got into USC and they saw how much I loved it they got really happy for me. Amy was also happy for me even tho she did set this whole thing up, I am now forever indebted to her but I'll just buy her a few pornstar martinis next time we go out and I'd say we will be even. In her eyes anyway, I know I will always be thankful to her for this.

Friday

I have just finished work in my part time job at a camera store where I regretfully had to hand in my notice due to this FILM SET I WILL BE WORKING ON it still doesn't feel real that I have this experience. Like I know I did put the effort in throughout school and have had short experiences working around directors but this is the first time that I will have a proper job on one and I cannot contain my excitement. So tonight being Friday and one of the last nights before I start this new amazing job I have decided I am taking Amy out as a thank you and also a celebration for myself for this experience.
