Chapter three: Sayu

Sayu woke up as her 3rd alarm blared that morning, she should really stop staying up so late doing her homework. Growing is very important, and sleep is integral to growing.
She got out of bed and dressed in her school clothes and headed to the kitchen for breakfast.
For breakfast today was onigiri in the shape of mujina. 'That means mom cooked this morning' she thought. Her father only made onigiri in the shape of the Tanuki. "The symbol of pride for our clan" he would say.
She preferred the Mujina.
After breakfast she brushed her teeth and put her hair into her usual pigtails.
"I'm leaving." She said passing by her parents.
Her mom pulled her into a tight hug "Ok sweetheart, I love you."
"Have good day at school honey!" Her dad called from the other side of the table.
Sayu yawned as she walked out, turning her head to see Qiqi. Qiqi's face lit up, though she didn't smile. Neither face did.
Sayu and Qiqi got along well. Neither smiled much, nor talked much, choosing instead to enjoy each other's company.
Sayu trodded over to Qiqi and grasped her hand and they walked to the bus stop.
This was their routine every day. Get up, get ready, go outside, hold hands, and walk to the bus stop.
Sayu held Qiqi's hand for two reasons. Qiqi was often lost in thought and would sometimes walk into things or the street. Sayu also liked the physical contact, and felt safe in Qiqi's hand.
As Sayu walked she saw Qiqi get lost in thought. Sayu became more attentive of their surroundings, any crack in the sidewalk, any bug, any puddles from the rain yesterday, she guided Qiqi around with grace.
Sayu stopped Qiqi as they arrived at the bus stop. She let her guard back down and noticed how Qiqi got uncomfortable as the bus roared in its approach. She wished it wasn't so loud.
Sayu led Qiqi up the stairs into the bus, and navigated them to their seat. She stepped back, as Qiqi went to sit by the window. Qiqi liked sitting by the window. Sayu sat down as well and reconnected their hands as the bus pulled off.
