Once he arrived home, Vampire sat in his room. He stared in the direction of his closet, where he'd hid Licorice Cookie's scythe. He hasn't touched it since placing it in there, aside from occasionally lightly brushing it when looking through for clothes. He got chills every time he did. He wasn't sure if it was caused by some magic radiating from it or if he was just anxious. Likely the second. Either way he was terrified to grab it. Vampire thought there is probably some sort of profound metaphor in the situation. Vampire couldn't quite get it though. He could never get too profound about things. So he just kept staring at the closet. It was late, as tired as Vampire usually was, right now he was wide awake. Something compelled him to go outside. He didn't want to be stuck home again. The lonely room was depressing, even when he was drunk. So he drifted out the mansion. He carried a glass of wine along with him, as he wondered around the outskirts. He walked on a bit, stepping into the thicker side of the forest. His home was still in sight but it gradually became smaller and blurrier. Once it was just barely out of sight Vampire looked up to the night sky. The sun had long been set and now all the stars where visible. He hadn't admired the night in a long time. The daylight burned and scarred his skin so he was only ever able to love the night. He liked how the moon and stars would shine the same as the sun, but they didn't hurt him like the sun did. He laid in a patch of grass and bunched his cape up to act as a pillow. He laid there, watching the night sky. He was so at peace.
He turned to his side, and faced the empty patch of grass and trees not to far away. He didn't expect someone to be there but somehow the fact that their wasn't anyone there still hurt. He imagined Licorice there. Before, at the Magic Academy they'd attended, they would occasionally sneak up to the roof top and stargaze. Vampire would lay on his side and watch Licorice Cookie as he would try to point out constellations in the stars. Vampire never paid much attention, and when he did he didn't understand a word, but that was alright. He loved Lico's voice. They way he'd pitch it to sound cooler and his awkward, almost squeaky laugh when he'd giggle at his own jokes. Vampire smiled. He was still so madly in love with Licorice. It was embarrassing, but worse, it was torture.
Vampire curled up and fell asleep on the forest ground, but before he did, he wondered... did Licorice cookie ever feel the same?
