"Ah, Could you please allow me to follow you to your next hashira meeting? I would like to find a Rengoku Kyojuro." Requested Y/n as she looked at the insect hashira.

"Reason?"

"I was a close friend of his." Replied the girl.

"I'll bring you along, but I must find Tomioka-san first." Replied Shinobu as she clapped both of her hands together, and started to jump towards the direction you assumed Giyuu might be in.

ʜɪꜱ ᴘʀᴏᴛᴇᴄᴛᴏʀ

Standing alone in the same spot Shinobu had left her, a reminder suddenly set off in her mind. 'Oh god, so Shinobu must be trying to kill Tanjiro by now.'

Thoughts Y/n as she contemplated whether it would be a good idea to follow the slayer or stay put. Finally deciding on what to do, Y/n dashed towards the direction Shinobu had run off. Jumping from tree to tree, Y/n picked up her speed. Accelerating herself up with total concentration and a small percentage of her demon powers, Y/n had enough time to jump in between both Giyuu and Shinobu.

Before Shinobu could attack Giyuu, she spotted a white blur with an aura similar to an upper moon deflecting her attack. Just as fast as the aura appeared it disappeared instantly. Now standing in front of her was the girl she had talked to moments ago, the female was holding two kunais to stop her attack.

Retrieving her sword back, Shinobu proceeded to unleash a large amount of quick attacks at the girl. 'Ara, Ara, who is this girl?' Thought the insect hashira as she spun into the air and swung in an arc. Before the sword could even hit the white haired girl, Y/n dodged it while throwing a kunai at Shinobu's sword.

The impact from the kunai hitting the sword, forced Shinobu to release her nichirin blade. As a result, her sword plunged into the floor far not from the duo. "My, my! How rude of me, I had forgotten to introduce myself to you" Smiled Shinobu as she continued to speak. "I am the insect hashira, Shinobu Kocho! Who might you be?" Questioned the hashira as she smiled angrily at the girl from stopping her.

"Y/n L/n, Rengoku's Protector!" Replied Y/n just as cheerfully as Kocho as she too introduced herself and stated her business.

"Rengoku's Protector..." Muttered Giyuu and Shinobu as they suddenly remembered they're conversation with Rengoku years ago.

-Flashback-

The semi-annual hashira meeting had just ended and almost everyone began to leave. "Before you leave, Rengoku-san, please do let your father know that I am already aware of who Y/n truly is." requested Ubuyashiki before he walked away with the help of his family. This announcement had not only shocked the said male, but also perked the interest of many others.

"Who Y/n truly is?" Questioned Rengoku as he stared down at the ground. It had been nearly a year since his argument with Y/n, and he had never seen her since. Tears began to form as Kyojuro started to once again regret the words he had said that night. Ever since Y/n had left, it was as if the household had gone back to its old self, except his father had become much more aggressive. 'I'm truly sorry, Y/n.' He apologised sadly.

"Who is this Y/n girl master speaks of, Kyojuro?" Teased the sound pillar, otherwise known as Uzui Tengen.

"A girl I knew." Replied the flames pillar coldly while glaring at the sound pillar. It was truly a surprising and scary moment for the other pillars to experience as Rengoku was never one to be angered or annoyed easily .
